Just this ⬆️

OP posts:

But you don't actually have the right to peace and quiet after 7am 🤣

But maybe OP doesn’t want to annoy the neighbours?
She’s obviously wondering what time most people would deem socially acceptable or she wouldn’t have started this thread.

I wouldn’t let DS play outside before 10, especially not something as noisy as a trampoline.

Monkeytennis97 · 29/03/2026 16:53

Definitely not before 9am
Also lawnmowers

my DS2 is very very loud (asd sld) and I never let him out in the garden before 9am (even if he was bouncing around from 3.30am onwards).

tokennamechange · 29/03/2026 17:04

I'd prefer 10, but wouldn't complain about 9am.

Any earlier than that, let's just say I wouldn't be making any particular effort to be quiet when I'm awake at 1am...

susiedaisy1912 · 29/03/2026 17:05

9am

What have rights got to do with it? It’s about empathy and neighbourliness. Or are you someone who just cares about their own rights and not what’s best for everyone?

Exactly. Just because someone CAN do something doesn't necessarily mean they should. There's a few people here I am glad are not MY neighbours! Anyone who thinks it's fine to make a noise at 7am JUST BECAUSE THE LAW SAYS I CAN, is not someone I want to live next to! I pity their neighbours!

Clogblog · 29/03/2026 14:24

Exactly what I think

My neighbours often play music in their garden until 11 pm which disturbs my kids so I feel they can live with my kids being up early

I don't have neighbours near enough, but if they did that then I would feel it only fair to send children out for a good bounce as soon as they wake up- if that was 6am so be it! Realistically, it would be nice if everyone was just a bit sensible. Not too noisy before 9am or after 8pm would seem okay.

I'd be fine with any time after sunrise. Our bedroom faces the front and is on the 3rd floor, so I don't think I'd hear them. But also my dcs have a dance class on Sundays at 10am so we'd never be having lie-ins till then.

Sunrise is around 4.45 in June. Are you serious?
Even now it’s 6.52…

What are you going to do about it if kids are up early next door though? It's not against the law. We can't all stop living because next door want a lie in!

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/03/2026 18:04

Not before 10am on a weekend. Some of us don’t have young kids and want a lie in. If you are allowing your child on a trampoline at 8am on a Sunday when you have neighbours you are just plain selfish.

Onleemoi · 29/03/2026 18:07

No ones asking you to stop breathing. Just don’t send your kids out to trampoline too early because they’re getting on your nerves indoors.

Fair enough, in return will you promise no garden noise from say 7pm? The children need their sleep.

Deal.

I like hearing children play...can't be often in the UK kids are outside on a Sunday morning.

Justkeepswimmiing · 29/03/2026 18:10

9am ish

I reckon quiet bouncing and no shouting from 8am, bouncing with shouting/child noise from 9am, lawnmowers 9.30am onwards.

I agree, @RaspberryRipple3. A very sensible and balanced view.

Whats the laughing emoji adding? Just looks menacing

IggysPop · 29/03/2026 18:20

I would say 9am at the very earliest on a Sunday.

But depends on the variables.

How close your house is to other neighbours.
Location - estate noise reverberates.
Shriek/scream factor - do you have relatively quiet kids or shriekers?
Location of equipment - is the play equipment (same for bbqs etc) as far away from your house/back door as possible but nicely nearer to yr neighbours so they get more of the benefit.

nopalite · 29/03/2026 18:24

Preferably 10am but 9am at the absolute earliest.

Catladywithacat · 29/03/2026 18:25

10.30

mit123 · 29/03/2026 18:28

I would say 10 am as I am surrounded by people that work long hours during the week and probably like a little lie in on a Sunday - not too much to ask

I hate them to illustrate a mean point.
