Help me find a trendy new baby gift

Telephonelightflashing · 27/03/2026 16:34

I need to buy a new baby gift for a young couple first baby. They are very modern trendy, think instagram aesthetic type.
I have no clue! Budget probably £75 max (£50 max would be better)
They are quite well off so like luxury things. I was thinking a fortnums hamper of treats.
But I'd like something more for the baby as well. It's a girl. When I say they are instagram aesthetic, I don't mean they'll post the gifts on there , (they have very private social media and not much) I'm just using that to say they are up with all the latest trends. Any help would be great!

When you say trendy, do you really mean expensive?

£75 for a new bay gift? Bonkers. Just ask them

What about a baby sheepskin

RampantIvy · 27/03/2026 21:35

Is anything practcal out of the question then?

When DD was newborn I would have appreciated a meal cooked for me then washed up afterwards. The last thing I was interested in was anything "trendy".

The Etta Loves sensory items are lovely, bold prints to help baby’s development.

I could do a nice hamper of lovely ready meals and posh snacks from a local farm shop

Buy some nice washable wipes. They've been the best, longest lasting thing we had and we still look fondly on the people who got them over 10 years later.

A couple of baby outfits from the White company. You can never have too many baby clothes.

They have a couple of nice toys too. I was wondering about a Maileg Mouse

Leather Buggy organiser

I loved my Storksak buggy organiser. Used it every day. It felt like a bit of an extravagance when I already had an expensive change bag, but it’s SO useful, so you can keep the change bag under the pram and still have easy access to the things you need immediately.

or a wool and leather pram handmuff for winter

Attaches to the handle of the pram, but can be easily unattached if you want it as a handbag etc

I dont know if things have changed but my best friend brought lovely little baby grows for the new born and a gorgeous afternoon tea when she came to visit, it was the best present I got, a little for baby and a little pamper for me. To me it was very thoughtful ❤️

With that budget I’d go for the Grimms medium rainbow, and these sensory buttons from Tickit. Grimms wooden rain is beautiful and small enough for a baby to play with, and the sensory buttons have a different shaker sound in each of them, and a mirrored surface which is really fun. We got the buttons when my baby was 11 months and I wish we’d got them earlier. Or look up sensory treasure baskets for babies.
