AIBU to raise a second Vinted complaint about misdescribed items?

I’m new to Vinted. I’ve sold around 15 items all with 5* feedback. I’m honest about the item’s condition and point out any flaws.

Recently made 2 purchases; a coat (£23) and a bag (£60) off different sellers and they were both listed as ‘very good condition’.

The coat arrives and it smelt slightly of cooking smells covered with perfume, one of the buttons isn’t properly secured and there’s brown marks around some of the trim. None of this is on the listing so I did raise an issue as I wouldn’t have purchased if I’d known this.

The bag has now arrived and it was packaged in a single plastic bag with no bubble wrap or protection, there was a hole ripped in the bag as it was really thin material. The package has clearly been chucked around by the courier and the bag inside is creased and crumpled, there’s also chipping on the gold hardware that’s now silver.
They've clearly taken a picture of an area of the hardware that’s in good shape but not the flaws.

I feel like I can’t make a second complaint as Vinted will think I’m totally taking the pee but I neither of these items were in ‘very good condition’ and none of the flaws were pointed out. The bag (I think £60 is quite a lot for a Vinted item) was wrapped in a single thin plastic bag that ended up ripped.

What do I do? I don’t want to get banned from Vinted for too many complaints as I enjoy selling on there.

I want to but I also don’t want to get banned as it’s helping me boost my income at the moment!

However; I also sold a bag for a similar price in ‘good condition’ (it was 10x better condition than this bag!) and I bubble wrapped it and put it in a box so it wouldn’t get damaged in transit.

I was so disappointed when I opened the postage locker, a single super thin bag, no extra protection and a big hole exposing the bag!

Bear in mind that you’re complaining to individual sellers, not Vinted. If you can’t reach an agreement that’s when Vinted’s bots will step in.

For your items, more often than not, Vinted will go in buyers’ favour if something isn’t adequately packaged, so that’s an easy one. For the coat, you could end up being able to return it but be prepared to pay for the return postage fees.

I have complained 3 x this year and see no signs of being banned...

Are you fearful / anxious generally?
You are honestly fine to open a case

SusanChurchouse · 23/03/2026 22:28

That’s rubbish OP.

i raised a complaint about a jumper that was described as ‘perfect condition’ but had an actual stain on the front. Some people are shameless!

The seller of the coat actually offered me a £20 refund (for dry cleaning) and to keep the coat. I didn’t ask for this and would have been happy to return the item but I accepted the refund and will have the coat cleaned, fix the buttons myself etc so I can wear it.

You won't get banned trust me. I have nearly 800 reviews on vinted. If I buy something and its crap a complaint goes in...ps...you will get used to the variety of packaging some people are very creative 🤣

Alwayslurkingsometimesposting · 23/03/2026 22:33

Don't worry OP- vinted knows these disappointing transactions are very common - they won't think you're being fussy or ban you! I got a really smelly jacket from vinted recently and I wish now I'd complained. You'll be annoyed at yourself if you just accept the crap item and let the seller get away with it

Nobodytouchmywine · 23/03/2026 22:35

My advice is to take some pictures of damaged parts and file a complaint, asking to return the item and then refund. I have done the same and got a refund within a week without issues with support from Vinted. Didn’t affect my ratings at all.

EllaMozarella · 23/03/2026 22:42

Oh absolutely complain!
I’ve submitted a few complaints when the items are not as they should be.
You won’t get banned.
Most sellers are great in my experience some some are jokers.

gentileprof7 · 23/03/2026 22:56

That is a huge amount to spend on 2nd hand goods. I usually sell for max £5.

CheeseSandwich1 · 24/03/2026 17:08

I put in a complaint! Just for context this was the ‘very good condition’ bag lining (not shown on listing)
