to think that the bank or mothercare could have at least informed me that my card was declined

i ordered a pushchair from the mothercare website yesterday and paid £7+ for next day delivery

just happened to go onto their website thismorning to see if they gave a delivery time to find a notice saying there was a prob with my order and to call customer services

so i did and was informed my order had not gone through (even though it said that it had yesterday) as my card had been declined

i told the lady that i couldn;t see why as i know there would be no reason forit to be declined so she processed the order again, but did point out that even though it had said the order had gone through the card may be refused again

so called credit card company and was informed that they had blocked my card as a security check i have not been using it a lot or more than once that week they have now removed the block

sonow i have wasted my £7 on delivery as it is now coming today now - but i feel really pissed off that mothercare despite having my email address and phone number did not contact me at any point yesterday or this morning and that the bank didn't bother teling me that they were going to block my card

i am only using the bloody credit card anyway as the bank have taken over three weeks replacing my debit card as they "forgot" toput the house number on the first card that got posted out

Mustsleep the same thing happened to me on card that is usually fine - and pissed me off too as was in same position thinking it would come on day x and not y.

I can only imagine that there is some issue with mothercare so won't be using them again online.

am surprised that they didnt contact you as think I did get an email. that is very annoying.

lodger gets furious as his card is always being declined for 'security purposes' and he travels a lot for work. Having explained this to them they still keep stopping his card "for security reasons". It was happening once a week or more.

HAvig many times been stuck in the middle of nowhere with no money he has now had to apply for a card with different bank so he isn't stranded.

HE ain't a happy bunny to say the least.

I can see the reason for security checks but a) you need to be informed
and b) they should be restricted to a certain no or be someway to confirm it is you at till point/over the phone say.

DP has an old credit account registered at his mothers address, last month I paid it on ym debit card, this month he paid it on his, only to hear from them yesterday when they finally called to tell him the cards had both been declined, because the address of the cardholder was different, then they tried sticking an overdue fee on top, even though they hadn't told us it had been declined.

can sympathise with your lodger armadillo as changed banks for same reason - you get no joy from some banks as they claim the "system" does the checks.

That said I've had card issues twice lately with baby/children shop so wonder if there has been some kind of fraud issues with them.

i know i am so glad that this was on the internet and not at the actual store as i would have had no other means of payment

the prick that i spoke to on the phone didn;t even apologise he was like well you have to call us so we can remove the block ffs i did not knowit was blocked as i wouldn;t have tried to use it and they had blocked it forno reason

now my husbands yorkhire bank visa got used on the german amazon website and that didn;t get refused as an unusual activity and it wasfor £250!! when he phoned to say that he had not spent that the woman on the phone actually asked him if his wife had bought some books and forgotton to mention it? whatever! £250 on german books ok then

anyway he got his money back
