AIBU to comfort ill dog first after it messed on DH’s shoes?

7 year old dog, ongoing stomach issues, diarrhoea’d all over DHs work shoes. His only pair. I comforted the poorly dog and shouted to DH that his shoes had been covered in diarrhoea. Now he’s mad at me for tending to the dog and ignoring the mess his shoes were in.

WIBU to prioritise the unwell dog??

Nope, I am absolutely with you here, DH can clean them up while you comfort dog!

Did he expect you to clean them?! If not, I'm not sure what his problem is, you told him what had happened

They’re his shoes so he should clean them. I can’t see why it would be up to you to. You told him about it and tended to the dog.

He's a grown man who can tend to his own shoes.

You didn’t ignore the shoes you called him to deal with them!

Did you find the mess or did you witness the dog pooing everywhere? I think I would be pretty annoyed if you watched the dog do it and did nothing but it's also not great to find the mess and ask the other person to clear it up. If the dog pooed on a joint item eg sofa who's job would it be then to clear it up?

I would have quickly comforted the dog, put it outside and then immediately cleaned the shoes.

Dealing with his footwear situation is DH's problem. Dealing with the poorly dog is yours.
