To not understand why my healthy (I think) way of eating isn't making me feel energetic and fabulous

AIBU to consider this is a healthy daily diet (not looking to lose weight as already a healthy weight). I want to feel more energetic and fabulous :-). Don't eat meat or drink alcohol. In my 60s, fit and well, very minimal stress.

AM
Smoothie with banana, kale, milk, peanut butter, avacado, skimmed milk powder, greek yoghurt
SNACK
Sourdough bread with peanut butter
MIDDAY
2 egg with onion, peppers, cheese and a mixed salad with olive oil dressing
5PM
Salmon with salad or brown rice with prawns and lots of vegetables and spices

What is missing? Or not helping?

Try porridge with milk and almond butter for breakfast.

I’ve just run your example through MyFitnessPal using the salmon as the evening meal and using recommended portions and it comes to roughly 1500 cals. Macros wise it works out to roughly 60% fat, 20% protein and 20% carbs.

Try adjusting your macros and/or increasing your calories to 1600-1800, depending on how active you are. A macro split of 30% protein, 40% carbs ( predominantly from veg,fruit and wholegrains) and 30% healthy fats may help but you’d have to try it out for a few months to see if I works for you.

Exercise is also important - the less you do the less energy you have, and quality of sleep.

I was going to post exactly the same thing! OP, do you enjoy eating this way? Or do you crave chocolate or a packet of crisps from time to time? Your diet sounds totally fine and better than most people’s but it depends on how rigidly you’re approaching it.

This is not true—there are so many nicely proteins that are not meat and meat is hard on the body in other ways.

There's no such thing as magic food unless the eater at start is very deficient in something.

I have an absolutely spectacular diet exercise and supplement regime and yet I feel like rubbish every day. I think it’s psychological but my fatigue level is through the roof so is my anxiety. I’ve come to the conclusion I can’t use diet and supplements to feel good it must come from something else !

OP, how's your sleep and exercise? General life happiness? Maybe a blood test is in order, just in case you're deficient in a nutrient or having a hormone go rogue.

You should take a vitamin D supplement. Get your iron, thyroid and B12 bloods checked.

Do you take creatine? Do you get good sleep? Do you need to lose weight? These are the things I’d look at next.

She absolutely isn't eating a lot of carbs and it's perfectly possible to eat a healthy diet that contains little or no meat.

I normally have coffee and toast with honey and jam for breakfast, mostly skip lunch and eat an omelette, spaghetti bolognaise or somesuch for dinner. I also take a vitamin supplement and some extra iron. I’m in my seventies, with a longstanding heart issue and osteoarthritis - I’m waiting for a knee replacement - but not at all lacking in energy and look good, or so I’m told.

You seem to eat rather a lot, and it’s fiddly. I couldn’t manage that much.

I eat super clean but I could not function with the little carbs, especially for breakfast. I would personally swap the smoothie for an oat bowl with almond milk and keep the peanut butter, Greek yoghurt and banana.

Personally I like to add cacao powder, chia seeds and hemp seeds to my oats too n

On paper your diet looks fine. How many calories are you taking in? It might be something a simple as you’re not eating enough. A smoothie can be 200 calories or 2000 calories. ‘Cheese’ can mean a teaspoon of cottage cheese, a truckload of Stilton, and everything in between, so it’s hard to judge whether this is a ‘good’ diet or not.

There's a myriad of reasons you can have low energy, and no diet is going to magically make you feel amazing

It's lots of healthy food but it's quite low in calories. I would feel pretty drained eating that

i thought the opposite re calories
A lot of fat from dairy (cheese, milk powder, Greek yoghurt)
The morning smoothie would send me to sleep - eat something you chew instead of wolf down
not enough low calorie but filling foods at every meal (cucumber, apple, carrots etc)

OP you diet sounds fabulous. Maybe go to the Dr for blood and thyroid tests though.

Your diet looks fine. It takes 6 weeks for a change of diet to translate to your energy levels
Ignorevthe predictable comments about needing meat.
If you still feel tired or sluggish without a medical reason then your nervous system is likely the issue

Doesnt look right to me. There isnt much to get energy from.
Also I would move your evening meal to lunch.

Your diet looks amazing! One question though, do you enjoy it or do you eat it because you feel like you should?
Your breakfast would have me wanting to chew my arm off by 10am! I much prefer porridge with a banana and a squirt of honey.
Occasionally a take away or a meal out (where you eat what you fancy, not scan the menu desperately for the healthiest option! ) is just as good for the soul as a pile of kale.
I have always said if I make it to a ripe old age I fully intend to eat and drink whatever I fancy on any given day.....we only get one go at life and I'll be buggered if the last thing I eat is a sodding vegetable 🤣

Nothing wrong with your diet but I would try and add in lentils, beans, nuts & seeds as protein/fibre. Feeling fabulous isn't just about eating well, it's also getting enough sleep and exercise. Walking is great, yoga for flexibility and strength training to support muscle strength and bone density, both decline after menopause.

Have you tried dairy free diet?
Supplementing good magnesium? Vitamin D? Do you get enough sunshine?
