We originally bought a dash cam (Nextbase) to use when on a road trip in the States. The movies are very clear and we have some fabulous memories!Easy to set up and use. Just remember to reformat your SD card(s) every so often. We rotated two SD cards so always had a spare in the car if we wanted to make sure we could preserve any special files.

We only used it once ‘in anger’ and that was when we were biffed up the rear, in this country, when stationary. The dash cam showed we were stationary well before impact.

In hindsight (sorry, bad pun) we would have bought a front and rear dashcam and Nextbase do some at reasonable prices.

I bought one at least a year ago and still haven't fitted it. Are you supposed to wire them in? I don't know how to stop cables dangling if you just use the lighter socket.

If I figure out how to put mine in, I can tell you if it's any good @maria2bela1 🙈

I also don't want to record sound. Assume you can switch this off in most of them?

We never hardwired ours in because we used to take it on foreign road trips. Cable was fed round the passenger door frame and held in place with masking tape and under the passenger foot mat. You can get them hardwired in but that wasn’t an option for us.

If, like us you have other things you want to use from the 12v (cigarette lighter socket) you can get a splitter which we had so we could use, dash cam, sat nav, coo, box and phone charger.

As far as I’m aware you can kill the sound on them.

I bought miofive on Amazon- back and front dash cam about £60 or so. They have one shared charger and plug into the cigarette lighter socket. I’ve been pretty pleased with them.
