Mercedes F1…apprentice assessment day cancelled…anyone know why?

My DC is gutted as they had got through to assessment centre stage of interviews for L3 apprenticeship.
event was Tuesday next week, only arranged last week…got an email yesterday evening saying event was cancelled. Doesn’t sound like a postponement either by the language used.
there is an offer for a development interview which they will take up.

just wondering what would cause such a sudden mass cancellation of an established recruitment programme? Only thing I could think of is maybe the 2 cancelled F1 races having a significant negative impact on finances for the year?

any ideas anyone? Appreciate this is a long shot!

I personally would like a strong word with Toto Wolff about messing g with young people’s dreams…but shall restrain myself 😂

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes/F1 have been impacted by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the impact on fuel and logistics, it's affecting a lot of industries.

Have had a similar conversation with a friend this pm. It’s the financial hit of two races being cancelled. They’ve pulled the plug on the apprenticeships. Really unfair to the kids, they cancelled days after sending the invitation to interview, awful.
