Use your headphones people. Why are people so rude to think others want to hear their music or conversations

Outdoors enjoying beautiful sunshine in a quiet public space. One woman hone having a loud work phone call (speaker on) and two idiot man boys playing random music (loud) and various social
media posts. What has happened to headphones and not inflicting all around you to hear your shit!!

yes I did move but the next inconsiderate idiots only a few minute away.

Because they are selfish inconsiderate arseholes who only care about themselves.

Id ask them politely to turn it down or use headphones

It's horrible. I popped into town earlier to get some bits and there was some idiot chatting to his partner on full speakerphone, I was following him down the street (well not following, but walking behind!). She kept saying: Gareth? Gareth? It's a bit hard to hear you Gareth!" So as I sped up to overtake I said: "Gareth - get some headphones!" It's so obnoxious, why does anyone else have to hear the minutiae of your life broadcast so loud?

I think a lot of people just don't think of others at all. I remember asking some kid years ago not to have his phone music on in a tub carriage and he looked incredulously at me and said 'Bu' it's mine!' as though he had no responsibility to conduct himself differently in public to in private.

Before COVID people seemed to be getting better with this stuff, maybe because they realised speaker quality was shoddy and things sounded crap. Now I think audio is better people have started doing it again and I reckon a lot of the time people think 'Oh, I'll just watch this one tiktok' and then end up watching a bunch.

I tend to ask people to put on headphones - you'd be surprised how often people do have them with them but just can't be arsed to take them out.

Edited

On the rare occasions I've witnessed someone politely asking one of these arseholes to do this, they have been met with a barrage of abuse.

A barrage of abuse is incredibly rare in my experience. The more of us who challenge it the better

yanbu, when I am ruler of the world, I shall be banning the user of speakers in public, I've had to listen to someone a couple of weeks ago, scrolling through tiktok, no headphones, in a hospital waiting room for ages. Again recently, in the another waiting room listening to music, no headphones. Wear headphones or do whatever you are doing on mute, I don't want to hear your music, your tiktoks or your phone calls.

I would love to ask them to put headphone on, but think this conflict would equally disturb my peace so I give disapproving looks, get fed up, tut and move.
If I thought they were decent people who may actually respond well to this being raised, I might consider it but they more than likely would not.

I will also mandate the reintroduction of the headphone jack on all smartphones. I date a lot of this bad behaviour from Apple removing it on the iPhone.
