to be appalled by Trump’s comments about learning disabilities?

I probably am being unreasonable since this is a president who starts illegal wars, supports genocide and protects pedophiles.
But today time he is also talking about the 20%+ of his beloved Americans who may have some kind of learning difficulty.

Are you really that surprised??

BrassOlive · 18/03/2026 08:02

People with disabilities don't need putting to sleep, you're as bad as him.

Well for a thread that is outraged at his language about someone with a learning need, he's been called an idiot, moron, cretin, implied that he actually does have a learning need (aka he is so stupid), called mental and now needs putting to sleep because he has a disability

Posters using those words clearly also feel that a learning need or disability is something to use as an insult.

I actually do think he has some sort of personality disorder though and I say that as factual.

wishingonastar101 · 18/03/2026 08:17

He doesn't just protect pedophiles - he is one. He literally started a war to distract people from the Epstein files...

poetryandwine · 18/03/2026 08:19

Yes, Trump is vile. But Newsom is so much more impressive that this won’t matter.

It is thought that Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Michael Faraday and possibly Albert Einstein had dyslexia, as do a number of modern scientists.

Catherine Drennan, the Wilson Professor of Biochemistry at MIT, talks about how her dyslexia has conferred professional advantages, enhancing her pattern recognition skills for example.

Each of these people, including GN, is worth many Trumps.

millymollymoomoo · 18/03/2026 08:20

Give over with your crap about genocide annd illegal wars. Utter garbage

WhatAPavalova · 18/03/2026 08:23

I’m not that surprised. I think the racism clip with Obamas so shocking recently I can’t be more shocked.

I'm just appalled by Trump daily, every time he opens his mouth, his whiny voice goes through me. Just can't fathom how the richest nation on earth have voted for this dangerous moron, not once but TWICE.

Gcol · 18/03/2026 08:32

Trump has dementia. Waffles, makes mistakes.

He is hideous to look at plus his voice is worse than scratching a blackboard.

There must be something else going with his health as back of hands he has bruises from cannulas.

The Americans who think he is wonderful haven't got many braincells between them.

I agree with the PP that said if Starmer made offensive horrible comments about people, he would be made to resign.

Trump is corrupt, more involved on Epstein island that we know off, racist, sexist lying, disgusting, vile, inhumane, cruel, selfish.

Then don't start on what he has done/doing with The White House. Decorating the Oval Office with those tacky gold embellishments, paving over Jackie Kennedy's Rose Garden and building a ballroom.

TeethAreImportant · 18/03/2026 08:34

Have you seen Gavin Newsom wife’s response to Trump’s comments about her husband?
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DV-LZuJgJR4/?igsh=cG5jM2FhczlraTkw

Gavin Newsomes own tweet in response to what Trump said was just chefs kiss...

Gcol · 18/03/2026 08:38

Then when the bodies of US military arrived back home last week. That was so fucking disrespectful of wearing a white baseball cap.

Plus he still calls Joe Biden, Sleepy Joe. When Trump himself has fallen asleep during meetings etc more times in the 14 months of his 2nd term than in Biden's 4 years.

He blamed Obama for the Iranian war from 47 years ago, Obama was 17 years old.

MissyB1 · 18/03/2026 08:44

He calls on Iranian citizens to “rise up” but what about American citizens “rising up” and getting rid of their clearly demented dangerous president?

walllaw · 18/03/2026 08:45

You might not want to look at what his Secretary of Health and Human Services has said about autism or his plan to remove anti-depressants and send people with depression or addiction to 'wellness' farms, or how he identified 'mitochondrial challenges' and 'inflammation' in children while walking through an airport.

lemonraspberry · 18/03/2026 08:46

I would suggest Trump himself has a learning difficulty- he seems completely unable to string a rational thought together, inherently racist, misogynistic man who has no concept of the consequences of his actions.

He, like Putin, are cut from the same cloth. Both lack a shred of integrity & decency- just power hungry old men who have not worked out the world has moved on.

2021x · 18/03/2026 08:50

What’s he distracting us from.

Stop listening to him and watch what he is doing?

youbizarrehorse · 18/03/2026 08:51

I don’t have room left in my brain for shock or outrage. DP seems to have plenty of energy for ranting about Trump’s latest behaviour, but I have already mentally checked out of the whole sorry shit show and just switch off until he’s finished. At this point I don’t know what Trump would have to say or do to shock me. And there aren’t enough expletives in the world to describe the crumbling excuse for humanity that he is.

walllaw · 18/03/2026 08:53

I thin it's a tossup between demented narcissistic psychopath and just an evil cunt, or maybe a combination.

Squirrel60 · 18/03/2026 08:54

And the old fart's own great-nephew, an adult, has severe physical and mental disabilities, born that way, basically can't do anything for himself, stuck in a wheelchair for life, and farty said he should never have been born, his mum should have had an abortion, he shouldn't be allowed to live and should be forced to die. Said he should die due to the care costs! Yet he's demolishing half the White House just for a stupid 250-350 million dollar ballroom!

That vile thug hates animals, women, LGBTQ+, and the disabled. If you're male, white, straight and fit, he worships you, but if you're anyone else, you should die.

William Trump is the son of Fred Trump 3, has profound, complex developmental and intellectual disabilities and is non-verbal, using eye-tracking technology to communicate. Unable to recognise his dad, mum or anyone. Trump said to let him die.

That bag of scum gets more and more twisted and evil every day.

Clearinguptheclutter · 18/03/2026 08:55

I’l appalled by pretty much anything that comes out of his mouth

thaf said, it’s so normal there is no shock factor anymore. It’s been entirely normalised for him to speak like this so nobody bats an eyelid.

EasternEcho · 18/03/2026 09:05

Many of us are tuning out, but that's why I'm grateful for those who still do speak up when he says something awful for the billionth time. We really can't risk for this to become normal with no one at all speaking up about it each and every time.

pointythings · 18/03/2026 09:07

My father was dyslexic. He was also a world class expert in his highly niche scientific specialism. Trump is many dreadful things, best summed up in the acronym POS.

mjf981 · 18/03/2026 09:08

He's one of most awful stupid self serving people to ever exist.

However I don't believe many Americans voted 'for' Trump. They voted for the Republican Party. I've heard it said that politics in America is a sport. You have a 'team' and you support your team come hell of high water. Yes, he has his rapid supporters, but many more voted for the Republican Party than specifically for Trump.

I don't think most people in America would be overly upset if he dropped off his perch tomorrow.

ThisLilacShark · 18/03/2026 09:41

Tetchypants · 17/03/2026 20:28

What’s the tangerine twat said now?

I do not understand how any American with a modicum of intellect could have voted for him. Last week he commented about dead people walking around with their legs blown off. I despair.

As an American who lived his first term in the US and then left for Europe, Trump is only a reflection of a much deeper problem—the deep roots religion has in US society. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Christian “non-denominational” evangelics who hold pretty distopian beliefs. I remember going to church with my exH once (he was quite religious) and the pastor saying “you have to help people less and pray more”. People who are part of these churches also believe that all they need to access salvation is to believe in God—it doesn’t matter how evil you are and what good/bad deeds you do in life, so long as you believe, you’ll go to heaven. If you don’t believe, regardless of how good of a person you are, you’ll rot in hell. This goes against all I have learned under my own (Catholic) religion, but they are literally brainwashed and have other very dangerous thoughts (men should be the only ones leading, universities brainwash people to be liberal, we should have no compassion for people who cross our borders illegally regardless of circumstances, we should not help the poor, etc.). All very frightening and unfortunately very widespread throughout the Bible Belt/Midwest/South. So regardless of whether he’s in power or not, the problem is there is a large segment of the population who think are morally superior to the rest despite being uneducated and morally bankrupt and holding repulsive beliefs.

Yes, I try to make this point on every thread about this sort of thing, it is an extremist mindset no different to some of these ME countries that we are all concerned about being really fundamentalist and extreme.

America was born out of people with extremist, isolationist, one dimensional religious views, lacking in tolerance, feeling blamed and victimised, paranoid about 'the others'. The mentality has not changed.

Coming from a president who can not string a coherent sentence together

BrassOlive · 18/03/2026 10:00

Well its not exactly a walk in the park and can impact a person's ability to function massively.

Edited

But it doesn't make a person any more deserving of derision or dehumanising language, that's my point.
