I probably am being unreasonable since this is a president who starts illegal wars, supports genocide and protects pedophiles.
But today time he is also talking about the 20%+ of his beloved Americans who may have some kind of learning difficulty.

Where will it end? Who will be safe?

Surely 77 million people can’t be that thick!

Them, plus many millions more who chose to stay at home on polling day. Obviously I'm not including those disenfranchised by the various voter suppression practices in red states, but I am including those who believed "both sides are as bad as each other" on subjects such as Gaza.

GentleHedgehog · 17/03/2026 23:40

Women died for the Vote. I know a few people who write long essays about politics on Facebook, spend time arguing back and forth on there with strangers. But they don't vote. So what's the point? I've asked but there's no coherent answer beyond ' voting doesn't change anything'. As if spending hours 'debating' on Facebook will.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 17/03/2026 23:48

It's just Trump being Trump. Yes, it's ignorant and offensive, but I'm assuming that those are qualities which the American electorate value in their leader. Plenty of them voted for him in full knowledge of what he was like, after all.

I don't expect sensible to come out of his mouth, and I'm not sure that anything he says could shock me now - the prejudice and the ignorance are so central to his character that I would actually be quite shocked if he managed to come out with anything that sounded vaguely rational.

GreyfriarsJobbies · 17/03/2026 23:49

The good news is that even the likes of Kemi Badenoch are now looking to distance themselves from Trump as they can see that Iran is a fuck-up too far. And as an aside, Gavin Newsom (who Trump was having a pop at re learning difficulties), is a seriously impressive person.

GoldenGeishaGirl · 17/03/2026 21:57

100% agree. And the people who say that mean that he gives them permission to be cunts too.

Plus, he’s a paedophile, not just a paedophile supporter.

A paedophile?

It doesn’t excuse what was said, and I am no supporter of Trump, but the terminology used in the US differs to that used in the UK. In the US, learning disability is often used for things like dyslexia and intellectual disability often used for what we call learning disability.

I know its doesnt but he's such an ignorant uneducated buffoon its hard to take him seriously.

britinnyc · 18/03/2026 00:22

As a U.S. resident I find it highly amusing that in insulting Gavin Newsom for having a learning disability he referenced him being the President of the United States. I can only hope this is a foreshadowing that in 2028 we will elect a sane leader who actually cares about the people who voted for them

unbelieveable !! … but seemingly so ….. and the imbeciles managed to elect that, Paedophile, Rapist, war criminal , self serving , racist, bigot TWICE. The world is unbalanced , something is seriously wrong . I am not living in the UK but we are drowning in American tourists for about 9 months of the year “ I feel like screaming why are you here , your country is being run by a mad man , fuck off home and do something ! Who did you vote for should be a question at passport control!

Oneearringlost · 18/03/2026 06:12

How did they go from Obama to Trump?
It's like night and day...Obama, elegant, dignified, gracious and articulate to someone who can't string a sentence together and uses words a toddler would use.
They do Trump well on Radio 4's Dead Ringers...

likelysuspect · 17/03/2026 20:56

I have no idea why Trump/USA is seen as any different to some completely mad/bizarre republic that we've seen across the world.

Presidents across the world say the most shocking things, he is no different. America is an extremist country.

Its really unhelpful that the bloke then referred to Trump as a 'brain dead moron'

Neither come out of this well but then obviously Trump is worse.

The difference is they are far more dangerous.

You are all right. IABU to be surprised.
What's really getting to me is the realisation this person is still in office, and here to stay for some time longer. Literally nothing can unseat him, because the American people won't.
And now the effects are being felt globally. The parallels to the rise of fascism that led to WWII cannot be ignored.

I agree and reasonable or not it is making me think badly of Americans as a whole.

I can’t even stand to watch any of their innumerable tv drams or films anymore.

So many of them paint America as the saviour of the world (always been an insular and arrogant lot even pre Trump) when in fact they are odds on the most likely to fuck it up forever.

GloiredeDijon · 18/03/2026 07:02

NotNow178 · 17/03/2026 23:35

1 in 5 adults in the UK voted for Labour. There’s nowt as queer as folk.

Ffs.

Every time we talk about the extreme situation in America some sad git wants to drag in their opinion on labour or KS.

There is no comparison.

Trump is not a politician.

It is not a democrat vs republican issue.

He is a one off psychopathic businessman pulling off a gigantic “deal” to feed his insatiable need for money and power.

IdentityCris · 18/03/2026 07:11

Coming from the man with obvious dementia, this comment is richly ironic.

Do you by any chance remember what came before? It was the only logical thing to do. Stamer's measured reaction to the current Trump-induced crisis shows exactly how right we were.

FateAmenableToChange · 18/03/2026 07:28

The irony of a walking talking penis mocking the disabled. All we can do is ignore, don’t give the creature attention (good or bad) it’s the oxygen it feeds on. Only the American people can get rid of it, and I’m afraid it won’t be easy, it’s created its own militia. It won’t be just citizens storming the capital next time, it learnt its lesson there. Civil war wouldn’t surprise me.

EasternEcho · 18/03/2026 07:35

He has no sympathy for any disability of any kind. He insulted that disabled reporter in public, mocking him. He cut off healthcare funding from the family trust to his nephew's disabled son. Trump's nephew said Trump suggested letting his disabled son, William, die rather than continuing to pay for his medical care. When asked for help with mounting costs, Trump allegedly told his nephew, "I don’t know. He doesn’t recognise you. Maybe you should just let him die and move down to Florida"

Nothing this vile man says surprises me anymore. It seems like he has no bottom.

MrsStarskie · 18/03/2026 07:37

Surely 77 million people can’t be that thick!

I visited to check on that. Most of them are, and violent. They only get away with it because they are rich.

LassiKopiano24 · 18/03/2026 07:47

I am not surprised the bottom feeder said it, but I am angry.

I don’t think there is a word bad enough to describe what an absolute cretin that orange prick is.

I believe it was reactionary racism.

It's the use of the word dumb that pisses me off so much. Dyslexia has nothing to do with intelligence something I try to tell my dyslexic students all the time.

He also referred to the governor as the president multiple times . Frightening.

There's also nothing wrong with having an actual intellectual disability. I do worry that in our haste to celebrate people with specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia) we can sometimes throw learning disabled people under the bus. We're all part of life's rich tapestry.

I think America really suffers from not having a Leader of the Opposition who would focus the Democrats.

The Democrats have let the whole world down with their pathetic nominees, unable to beat this monster.

Well its not exactly a walk in the park and can impact a person's ability to function massively.

People with disabilities don't need putting to sleep, you're as bad as him.

LadyVioletBridgerton · 18/03/2026 08:05

Not all jobs are suitable for everyone. Most people can’t be president, so what? 🤷‍♀️ Are we supposed to be offended by that as well?
