AIBU to delay DC’s vaccination until after Easter holiday due to side effects? Or will there be a run on the vaccine and potential issue with supply?

A two part question, given what's happening in Kent. Planning to get DC vaccined but not till after we get back from holiday, around Easter.

My only reason for delaying is because I'm concerned about side effects and holiday being spoiled.

But then, I worry that there will be a big run on the vaccine and it will run out.

What's more likely the latter or a raft of shitty side effects?

Thanks in advance.

the vaccine has already run out, we had our appointments cancelled today and were told this

Had dcs’ Men B a couple of days before going on holiday back in 2015 (paid privately, mine are too old to have had the vax on the NHS)

DS did have a bit of a temperature on the way over which made the flight challenging - I hadn’t really realised this might happen. The next day he was fine. It was not a big holiday ruining experience.

What age? What side effects do you think would be worth cancelling it over?

Chestnutmarenutjob · 17/03/2026 20:09

Don’t cancel

The side effects are very similar to the covid vaccine (I know this because DD was part of a trial for the covid vaccine and they used Men B as the control as the side effects were very similar).

So sore arm and mild flu like symtoms later that day, but nothing lasting and certainly not holiday ruining!

Other posters on other threads said that their private appointments have been cancelled.

Tableforjoan · 17/03/2026 20:17

It came up breaking news they have ran out.

My eldest didn't have any side effects other than an achey arm. I personally wouldn't cancel

Zov · 17/03/2026 20:35

OMG don't delay it! The effects of the disease will be FAR worse than the side effects from the vax!

Coffeewithfrothymilk · 17/03/2026 20:41

I am currently trying to sort, after taking on board the comments, but it's proving hard!
