AIBU to ask what dishes we should try at Dishoom?

We’re going to Dishoom for the first time soon. Is there anything we absolutely must try?

House Black Daal

I think the Okra is incredible.

The gunpowder potatoes and the ruby murray. Im
going next week too. Can’t wait delicious food!

Starter - pau bun (any of them), chilli chicken
Main - sheek kebab, gunpowder potato, house black daal, chilli corn cobs
I find their roti better than the naans

but iftar feast menu sounds v good as well

might have to make a reservation!

What time of day are you going? This changes the answers considerably.

At Breakfast the bacon naan with a mango lassi 😋
Lunch or dinner then the chilli chicken, the bread rolls with tasty potato mush (bav something perhaps), ooh the prawns too!

TBF, I've never had anything I didn't like there and now I want to go to Dishoom too, really OP YABU to ask what we like best but not invite us all! 😂

Are you someone who generally likes okra? I can't understand why anyone would eat okra but I'm very willing to be persuaded it's possible to cook them a better way....

I love the mattar paneer.

The broccoli salad

Jackfruit biryani, okra fries, house black dal!

I like okra when it's cooked right - which it has always been at Dishoom.

Everything including the dahl!

This is going to be an expensive meal because I genuinely do want to try everything

We shared most dishes which meant I could try loads! I bought the book (but the black dahl takes HOURS) which is a great read.

A pineapple drink called (I think) No Hafta Colada, bloody lovely

We went with DS and DDIL - it was about £300, with just one bottle of wine. Brilliant though - well worth the 45 minute queue.

The dishes were all nice enough but nothing was unmissable, but I’ve been fortunate to eat in some amazing Indian style restaurants in the uk and also in India though. Have what you fancy basically, I’m a dal fan but theirs was so so (I admit I prefer mine, taught to me by a lady from the Punjab

Another vote for the broccoli salad, it's now hard to eat broccoli without longing for lime and pistachios and tiny juicy chopped up dates all through it!

Order an extra portion of the black dal to take home! (I always do)

Just as an aside, their breakfasts are really really good.

My partner has been eyeing up the jackfruit biriyani. I’ve never tried okra, what does it taste like?

Went to KX Dishoom for the first time last weekend and am still waxing lyrical over the okra fries and the gunpowder potatoes. We did the group feast thing though as there was loads of us so got to try a bit of everything. The daal, the mattar paneer. Just sublimely good.

The Black dahl is my favourite. The popadom bites are also lovely
