To say that people using their mobiles on loud speaker in a public place should be lined up and shot?

Or, more seriously, banished from wherever they are.

It's so inconsiderate and rude. That awful tinny sound. Why do people think that everyone else wants to hear their phone conversations or their awful music on the bus or in a cafe?

I cannot bear it, and it seems to be getting worse and worse.

Totally agree. Please can litter louts join the line-up too?!

DramaAndBullshit · 16/03/2026 19:45

Especially those walking along a street talking on speaker, not only annoying for those around, but not the best way to make a call, the background noise makes it hard for both parties to hear the conversation.

Idiots.

Agree.

Oh god yes. I actually wish phones would spontaneously combust if the owner plays awful music in a public place!

Absolutely. They can all get in the bin (followed by the litter that should have been put there in the first place).

Not just awful music but any music, also games with the sound effects on.

The phone spontaneously combusts & for the next year they’re only allowed to have a brick. That would do.

I hate tiktoks the most. I can't tune it out even with my own music (on headphones like a reasonable human) because it keeps changing so it's incredibly jarring.

loveawineloveacrisp · 16/03/2026 19:58

100% agree.

KittyFanesParasol · 16/03/2026 20:01

No.

That should be reserved for people who stand in the Tesco exit, trolley at a 90 degree angle and have a detailed chat with their neighbours.

AnSpideog · 16/03/2026 20:03

They are banning it on some flights and hopefully they will make it illegal. I feel like it’s a sign that basic human decency is going out the window.

I don't see the point of the 'lining up' bit but otherwise I'm totally with you. As for people who play music through a Bluetooth speaker when they're out hiking in the hills...well I wish it were possible to shoot them twice.

Flamingojune · 16/03/2026 20:05

I usually ask them to put headphones on

The lining up bit is to make an example of them in the hope that it will deter others.

I think you have to say something!! British polite and apologetic “hiya, sorry!! I think your Bluetooth must have failed, I can hear your phone” polite laughter
