AIBU to question praying and sleeping in the library kids area?

Yesterday I took the kids to the local library (Inverness, scotland). The local library has a kids area. The kids area has a nice artificial grass mat for the kids to sit and read their books on.

When I entered the library there was a man who had folded the kids mat over so he could kneel on the floor and pray to Allah.

Therefore this prevented the kids from sitting on the mat and reading their books.
The man was praying for a while.

I don't have a problem with someone praying if that's what they want to do.

Is it appropriate to be doing it in the kids area in a local library?

Also, there was a woman curled up in the corner of the library sleeping. This was also in the kids area.

I've seen people sleeping in the library on a few occasions now. I've never seen it in the kids' area.

Ofcourse, I feel sorry for her if she's tired, but again is it appropriate to be using the local library, especially the kids area, as a shelter?

I left the library, and told the staff politely, I didn't find it kid friendly.

Was I being unreasonable?

It’s not your job to safeguard my child, because I don’t allow him to fall into swimming pools. Your help isn’t required thank you.

I’m also definitely sure I wouldn’t like you to “safeguard” him from the “risk” of someone praying.

You are being totally disingenuous. You know the risk isn't the man praying.

Quite why you are so angry about people looking out for your child is beyond me.

So if a “lone man” went into the children’s area to get a book for a child who wasn’t with them, would that still be suspicious?

What I’m trying to establish is if the fact he’s male is even relevant, or if it was the activity chosen.

For me it's the activity chosen. I think a female using the children's section of the library (or any section) to get down on the floor and do their praying would be acting inappropriately. I think it would be very entitled. I hope that if it happens more than once, that the librarians would ask them to leave.

Yes it’s quite an odd and combative attitude. Sadly for pp my conscience would not allow me to stand by and see a child come to harm.

I’m sure most normal people feel the same.

The repeated misrepresentation of the issue is quite wearing and utterly futile.

I agree.

The activity is completely misplaced, and would equally be if it was any other person doing the wrong thing in the wrong place.

Man takes over children’s dedicated space to worship a paedophile/war lord - This is not ok! Unless you are a child, or with a child, choosing a book or reading, you should not be welcomed!

Can you tell us how old Aisha was at marriage and how old at consummation of that marriage?

(clue it was 6 or and 9 respectively).

Also which Islamic run country recently set the legal age of consent to sex at 9?

(Iraq)

and how many children have been saved from being trafficked from the UK to Islamic countries for forced child marriage?

That's not what I'm talking about. You think Muslims pray to/worship Mohammad. They don't. In fact that would be a great sin. Only God is to be worshipped.
(not a Muslim btw)
