So I had a thread a week or so ago about having to cancel a date with a chap on 1 March as I was in the depths of moving house - all happened mega quickly and didn't want to mess him about. We WhatsApp a bit back and forth, but not daily (good for me as I am not someone constantly on my phone). I'm going to day disco next month (also put a thread up on that about what to wear!) and I bought two tickets, so was thinking of asking him along and my last text just asked how he felt about day discos.

He's just sent me this voice note - he's actually really nice isn't he?

"What is a day disco? I have a basic approximation of what they are but it sounds like I would like it! They sound great! How's life? Work is hectic at my end but been walking lots with the dog and doing 45-year old man things - pottering about. Hope the move is going well, or went well? If you need a hand with anything you only have to ask. What's your prediction for the rugby? Ta ra for now."

I'm not swoony, but I just had a bit of 'what a nice, normal person he seems to be' moment. I guess I have kissed (and married) frogs in the past! (No offence to frogs...)

Whilst on the whole, I am against the male gender, I am willing to stipulate, grudgingly, that there are some good ones out there

It's it weird when 'what a normal nice person' is the minimum bar, right?! But honestly such. nice message and he's offered to help with the move twice. (I did all by myself because apparently I like backaches!) I think I am a bit wary because I am ancient and have been burned a fair few times! But will send him a voice note back and ask him if he fancies bopping around with fellow four decades people! Thanks lovely! xxx

Aww, he sounds down to earth and genuine. Nice to see a humble one that admits to doing normal middle aged man things and not hiking up mountains, white water rafting, Hyrox or investing in bitcoin.

I was making a joke because @mumofoneAloneandwell and I were told on another thread to 'get a room' because we were chatting nicely!

He does indeed sound lovely, and I very much hope it works out for you. Just be mindful of boundaries going forward, if he’s offered to help you move twice (once was enough if you had already turned him down).
