I'm going to Mexico in a month. Not worried. The world is a big place.

It's absolutely fine and there are no concerns around the safety there. That said, check your insurance.

Not according to the foreign office. Their advice is only against non-essential travel to certain areas. This allows for travel insurance.

Violent clashes between cartels and army in the streets on many places, explosios, tens of dead soldiers, closed schools and public transport...

If I had a choice between Cyprus and Mexico, I'd feel a lot safer on Cyprus.

I agree, whilst I wouldn't want to go to either, I would feel safer in Cyprus than Mexico right now.
