Nursery pick-up security

Our 2yo goes to pre-school til 3pm and then sometimes into wraparound care if we can’t get him straight away. When picking up from pre-school, if you’re not a parent then you need to give a password to collect the child. At wraparound care, there seems to be no such system and anyone can pick the child up. Eg my husband did pick-up from there for the first time and was just handed our child without a query.
AIBU to feel shocked by this? I feel like I need to raise it with the school. Husband queried it with the staff member asking how she knew he was dad, and she basically looked embarrassed and had to accept she didn’t.
I’m tempted to send a friend one time to do pick-up just to see if they’d hand him over to anyone without question.. it really seems so

Yes, raise it with the nursery.

I’ve never had to give a password to collect my child. But you said that it’s only non-parents who have to give the password. His dad is his parent. Presumably, your ds knows his dad. Why would they refuse to let him go with him? They seem to be following the preschool policy, releasing children to parents. That seems fine. 🤷🏻‍♀️

No harm in raising it, maybe later parents would be happy for it to be implemented.

Our private nursery used a password system but the school nursery DC attends now doesn’t.

We never did any passwords. Parents just collected the child if it was an ordinary family without any highrisk issues.

He's 2 though. He would clearly know his father and react according when he saw him. He's old enough to be talking and say Daddy, so it should be obvious if it's a stranger there.
