To expect toilet roll to last longer than this??

In the house it's me, teen dd, ds 12, ds 5, ds 4 and ds 2. Younger 2 are still in nappies (something I'm hoping to work on over easter) and dd uses the downstairs loo most the time as her bedroom is downstairs,

On Sunday eve we had a Asda delivery and I bought a pack of 12 Andrex “mega” rolls. I put one upstairs yesterday and by this morning i had to put another one in. Downstairs isn’t much better either there’s only a few squares left so will need to replace that later on when i go in. Today they've all been at school until apart from dd, ds 12 and my youngest but no ones unwell with a cold or anything

Maybe I've been conned and they aren't mega at all but they aren't lasting much longer than a normal roll. It isn't the end of the world but they were £8 and ill likely need to order more for next weeks shop!! Just a lighthearted post

3 squares of toilet paper is wasteful?! Of course it's not.

I think there is an extra few people in our house the Amount of toilet paper we go through!!! I buy the big boxes of bamboo stuff....it lasts for a few months (48 rolls) 😂

48 rolls lasts you a few months?! How many are in your house?! Serious question because that's impressive and I may have to switch!

People are wasteful with toilet roll, people use 2-3 squares at a time sometimes. I was always taught to use 1 square at a time and to fold it over for a second wipe.

It would go
through the paper on to my hands

We use Morrisons oh so soft. It is so much better than Andrex and Cushell. We were going through loads of that and there's only two of us.

YourWinter · 11/03/2026 12:02

I buy Morrisons Oh So Soft own brand, pack of 1.5 length rolls. I think they’re £3.70 for 6 rolls, I live alone and a roll usually lasts me 4-5 days.

GirlsInGreen · 11/03/2026 12:03

I buy Sainsburys Super Soft 24 & that lasts me & DD (18) about 6 weeks.
Its nice and thick & properly soft.

@Starlight1979 just 3 of us.... myself and my sons. Eldest one is autistic and uses a LOT of toilet roll....but he's getting very good unblocking it 😂😂😂 try bumboo....its extra long rolls. Expensive but they do last

Justploddingonandon · 11/03/2026 12:08

There's 4 people in my house and a roll only seems to last a couple of days (I work from home, but everyone else goes to school/work). Teen DS does seem to feel the need to use half a roll every time he does a shit (I don't think he's using it for any other common teen pursuits, but I'm not going to enquire! ) but otherwise usage seems normal.

LadyVioletBridgerton · 11/03/2026 12:09

You’ve got a 12 year old DS…that’s all I’m saying on the matter.

rainbowunicorn22 · 13/03/2026 08:33

there are only 2 of us adults but I buy my rolls over the internet mega packs usually 36 rolls. Used to buy couple packs a year but now its every 2 months I am beginning to wonder where exactly it is going!

TotHappy · 13/03/2026 08:39

Someone nicked a mega pack of loo roll from my work the other week. A sign of the toilet paper times.
