Cloudy Wegovy Pen

I won’t bore with the background (university experiment, not mine!) but I need to turn a wegovy pen cloudy (the liquid in it).

Any ideas? We’ve frozen it and put it in a hot oven a couple of times and it’s staying clear!

I am probably being unreasonable to ask. But I’m sure there is someone reading this who knows how to turn semaglutide cloudy?!

Bore me with the background please. Are you allowed to add anything to it? Trying to precipitate the drug by changing the pH might work but you’d need to add to the pen.

Keeping it warm for ages and light exposure might work too.

Can you do anything in terms of adding anything to it? I would probably try and use a needle to introduce something through the opening that would compromise the integrity of the medicine.

Thank you! What could we add?! Hmm…

We think light exposure would work but that it might take several days. Will try tomorrow though!

We are allowed to add anything to it if nothing else works (temperature extremes, light etc)

The molecule is unstable enough for Novo to give patients instructions on what to do if it freezes and if it goes cloudy. I’d start by cycling it from fully frozen to really warm warm back again a few times.

Failing that the pH of the medicinal product is 7.4. You would need to lower it to at least 6 to get it to precipitate. I’ll let you work out what you have that you could use to do that.
