To think I've had my last period?

HaveIhadmylastperiod · 05/03/2026 21:07

I'm 51 and according to the app on my phone my last period was 64 days ago.

Is that it now?

What age were you when you had your last period?

I’m 51, on hrt for 4 years, haven’t had a bleed for more than 18 months and only a handful in the years before that… last week it showed up with a vengeance, such a shock. The heaviest period I’ve had for at least 15 years, and so painful. Doc reckons it’s my body’s last hurrah! Such fun 😳

Willowskyblue · 05/03/2026 23:04

They stopped the month I turned 50 and never came back.

Did anyone miss them?! I'm 48 and still regular but lots of post menopausal riends have told me they miss the peaks and troughs and one said she missed the 'cleansing feeling' - so Ive bedn trying to appreciate still menstruating! Anyone else found you miss them or do they get so annoying towards the end you feel glad?

Not in the slightest! It’s amazing not having them any more. I didn’t even have particularly horrendous periods, but they were just a pain in the arse, literally and figuratively. Bloody delighted they have fucked off! I’m on HRT admittedly.

MoonWoman69 · 05/03/2026 23:09

Mine stopped dead at 48, then a whole year passed and I had one massive, 7 day, heavy period and absolutely nothing since! I'm 57 now. You usually follow your mum as regards to menopause. I was the same age as my mum was when she went through the menopause.

ThatWhiteElephant · 05/03/2026 23:52

54 here and having two a month, sometimes one a month.
i literally can not wait for them to stop.

PersimmonsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 06/03/2026 00:05

53 and was regular until i decided i had had enough. One Mirena coil later, job done.

Friendlygingercat · 06/03/2026 01:02

I am confirmed child free so my periods were never other than a bloody nuisance.I stopped them in my late 40s by taking the contraceptive pill end to end with no breaks. I did it for 5 years. When I stopped to see what would happen my body clock had stopped. From age 42 I never had another period. Oh joy!

HollaHolla · 06/03/2026 01:07

Yeah.... the little bastards crop up again, just when you're not expecting it.
I started seeing a difference the week of my 40th birthday; last period at 42.

I was a whole 10 years younger than my Mum. She had her last period at 52.

I'm 50 now, and been on HRT for 6 years.

Marwoodsbigbreak · 06/03/2026 06:58

I had annual periods for three years! 😡

Coffeeishot · 06/03/2026 07:04

To be honest I never liked periods in any shape or form! Probably because they were always painful. Was incredibly relieved to be rid of them!

Cleansing???? Red mess? Getting up at 2am & having to change my bed?

Yeah right.

38 and currently on day 65.. also had v low amh so wonder if this is beginning of the end!

May not be. I had a freak gap at a similar age. I am now 42 and they are like clockwork.

I don't really understand "the cleansing" feeling. I still have regular periods. I'm not fussed by them but I can't say I look forward to them. The only thing I guess I would miss is the first week of the cycle when I know I am much stronger in the gym. But, I imagine, it will level out in menopause.

LadyCastellioni · 06/03/2026 08:19

Had what I thought was my last one at 46 following 2 years of being all over the place. Then about 18 months later had another one, which triggered some investigations because It was classed as a post menopausal bleed at that point.
My mum was 39 and my grandma was very early at 32.

Avantiagain · 06/03/2026 08:25

My 'last' two periods were 7 months apart when I was 47. Then I had one three years later ( which I got checked out due to the gap) and then nothing.

Coffeeishot · 06/03/2026 08:39

No i didn't miss them at all i am sure i had undiagnosed PMDD and my peaks and troughs were horrendous, i understand that every womems period experience is different but I.don't miss them.

bugalugs45 · 06/03/2026 08:43

I’m 47 and haven’t had a period since last July , but fully expecting to have 1 before my years up as seems to be the case for most women

LastNightMyPJsSavedMyLife · 06/03/2026 09:54

I’m 57 almost 58, they stopped for 285 days then came back with a vengeance. No HRT and now I have bleeding every other day for 2 weeks then 2 weeks clear. Bloody marvellous way to live.

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 06/03/2026 09:58

Absolutely not. At about 52 I went 18 months without a period and then absolutely flooded one day. Had it checked out and a scan showed I had released an egg. Then another 18 month gap and again - a flood. Same situation. Luckily it didn't happen again.

Onacuctustree · 06/03/2026 10:02

I had my last at 48.
Did Hrt for a bit, but it didn't suit me.
I'm now 53.
Absolutely nothing.
I started late, I was 17.
I don't miss the ups and downs of hormones.
My sex drive didn't go,which I am very glad about.

weegiemum · 06/03/2026 10:29

I was 53. I was on HRT but had to come off it due to breast cancer and they stopped immediately and have never come back. I’m 55 now but I think I’m done, thank goodness!!

mondaytosunday · 06/03/2026 10:40

56, I thought I was done at 55 but six months after what I thought was my last I had another on holiday. That was my last. Isn’t it usually a year of no periods before it’s considered to be over?

mindutopia · 06/03/2026 10:41

I’m 45 and my periods have been every 75-80 some days for about 2 years now. I don’t think I’m close to them being finished yet, but we’re heading in that direction.

HeadyLamarr · 06/03/2026 10:43

In the past 4 years I've had cycles lasting 12 days and cycles lasting 150 days.

No, I don't think it's likely you've had your last period. But best of luck anyway, you might be lucky.
