Dog poo!

Lucelulu · 05/03/2026 12:45

Bin day and at least 3 people have dropped their dog sh*t bags in my empty black bin - who are these idiots! The bin men lift the black bags out so I end up having to upend the bin to empty it on a regular basis. If this is you don’t do it please! Surely I’m not being unreasonable ..

You're welcome :). The dog litter bins go to exactly the same place as the public bins btw so you don't have to put it in a dog litter bin (revolting over-flowing things usually).

Just to add, I always pick up poo and put in public bin. I even take it in my car if there's no bin.

I think you’ve missed the point - they get left in my bin by the lazy dog owners and by the bin men.

That’s absolutely gross. Dogs should be banned!

Perhaps ban humans. I doubt the dogs are bagging their own crap and dropping it in peoples bins.

Actually I misunderstood you there

I found that my mum became obsessed with the contents of her bin as she developed dementia.

It's just a bin. I hope you're not upending your bin (slightly disturbing behaviour) and leaving the poo bags on the pavement?

If the bin men don’t upend it to empty it, how would you suggest someone gets a tiny bag out the bottom of it without upending it? My arms aren’t that long I could reach if it was me! Or should it just be left there indefinitely?

PoachedSmoke · 05/03/2026 14:37

Get a bin lock, OP. Some dog owners are utterly disgusting.

I've got a bin lock to stop people putting their rubbish in my bin, I'd highly recommend it!

Duckgate · 05/03/2026 14:51

Yanbu.

I absolutely despise how every once of greenspace has been taken over and ruined with dog shit in the uk.

You can't trust any patch of grass these days without worrying about standing in vile poo.

I feel like I'm constantly on edge when out walking with the kids as you just know at least one of them will run through some. It makes me sick and angry.

Dogs should be confined to the owners personal gardens and not allowed in public spaces made for humans.

If your garden isn't big enough to let a dog roam happily, you shouldn't own one. It's bloody cruel capturing a wild animal to take home just to make you feel better.

Don’t be silly. If there were no pet dogs, there would be no pet dog poo. It would be a simple solution to a disgusting problem.

At least cats have the decency to find a little patch of soil. Dogs just leave it wherever they happen to be. One crapped in the school playground recently; owner wasn’t supposed to take it in

What about service dogs?

itsthetea · 05/03/2026 14:56

I don’t understand where they are meant to put dog poo bags if not in black bins ?

itsthetea · 05/03/2026 14:56

Service dogs are I understand trained to go in special places

Have you bothered reading the thread? It’s not about putting it in black bins generally. It’s the fact the OPs bin does not get upended when it’s emptied so it’s left for her to deal with. She’s got random dog shit bags in her bin that she needs to fish out.

Also, people can just put it in their own black bins. That way no one will ever have a need to complain.

Picturing myself walking through the moors, gigantic net in hand, on the hunt for my dog as a puppy. 🤣

MouseMama · 05/03/2026 15:05

It’s so annoying. We live right next to the common and the number of dog walkers who think I want their bags of shit in my bins is mind blowing. I have to stack the bins in a particular way to avoid it and then take them inside as soon as they’ve been emptied. I once left the driveway gates open revealing an empty skip for a few hours and a few bags were tossed in. I took them to the park bins, it’s just not fair to the guys at the waste company who work through the skip waste.

We live in a lovely part of SW London and I am sure all these people know perfectly well how to behave.

Dog poo bin, public bin or the black bin at their own house.

JTRSOP · 05/03/2026 15:08

Submarinara · 05/03/2026 13:08

The op said that the bin men removed pop bags from her bin I took that to mean that poo bags shouldn’t go in black bins at all. And now I’m worried I’ve been doing the wrong thing when I brought the poo bags home and put them in my bin.

That is NOT what OP said. Read it again.

It’s bagged up and it’s going into a bin that you’re going to put rubbish in anyway what’s the problem? I don’t think I’d even notice unless I saw them. Wouldn’t bother me in the slightest. I’m glad they’re cleaning up after their dog. Why is your bin where people can access it?

One of my neighbour's cats shits right in the middle of my ornamental grass plants. That's vile if you're gardening and don't see it. I have to pressure wash my plants clean. It's probably the same one that shits on the grass verge without trying to bury it.

Yes and poo bags are black? So the bin men are lifting out the poo bags?

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

TheRussiansAreComing · 05/03/2026 13:09

I've never known bin men to take the bags out of the bin before. What happens if you put loose rubbish in like polystyrene packaging from say a large electrical item.

Anyway. If I don’t think there is a public bin or a poo bin on the walk I’m about to undertake and I see someone’s house hold wheelie bin near the pavement, then I’m putting my bagged up dog poo in that bin. I probably wouldn’t like it to happen to me, but I spose I have double standards.

Take YOUR shit home.

apologies
I’d be on the phone to the council telling them to come back and empty my bin. What would they do if a household didn’t bag up their rubbish or the bag split as they were taking it out of your bin.

HortiGal · 05/03/2026 15:37

I never get the rage at this, you’re going to fill
the bin with rubbish, doesn’t bother me, rather it’s in the bin then on the street
