Dog poo!

Lucelulu · 05/03/2026 12:45

Bin day and at least 3 people have dropped their dog sh*t bags in my empty black bin - who are these idiots! The bin men lift the black bags out so I end up having to upend the bin to empty it on a regular basis. If this is you don’t do it please! Surely I’m not being unreasonable ..

The op said that the bin men removed pop bags from her bin I took that to mean that poo bags shouldn’t go in black bins at all. And now I’m worried I’ve been doing the wrong thing when I brought the poo bags home and put them in my bin.

If the dog poo bags don’t go in the black bin, as such is for non recycled rubbish here, where should they go?

Ah good, so we've found one of the culprits then!

Put things in a PUBLIC bin, or YOUR OWN bin. Bins on other people's property are not fair game.

TheRussiansAreComing · 05/03/2026 13:09

I've never known bin men to take the bags out of the bin before. What happens if you put loose rubbish in like polystyrene packaging from say a large electrical item.

Anyway. If I don’t think there is a public bin or a poo bin on the walk I’m about to undertake and I see someone’s house hold wheelie bin near the pavement, then I’m putting my bagged up dog poo in that bin. I probably wouldn’t like it to happen to me, but I spose I have double standards.

She did not say that. She said the bin men lift the BLACK BAGS out of the bin to empty it so the loose poo bags are left in there and SHE has to upend the bins to get them out!

Yes and poo bags are black? So the bin men are lifting out the poo bags?

Dog owners are fucking anti-social. Was reading the other day about the Welsh rugby player hospitalised due to dogs crapping all over the sports pitches. Should be laws that they shit on owners property only.

This, my nephew volunteers at a local sports club and during lockdown a woman with a dog-training business was using their pitch as she couldn't use the indoor hall she normally hired. She didn't take kindly to being told to leave as they own the field. She thought the Council owned it and she could just rock up because she "paid her taxes".

Cherrytree86 · 05/03/2026 13:12

BAN DOGS

that would solve this issue

myopinionis · 05/03/2026 13:12

So is your bin not a wheely bin? I've not seen this "binmen picking bags out of the bin" arrangement in the UK recently.

Not that they should be putting it in your bin anyway.

Submarinara · 05/03/2026 13:10

Right this is where the confusion is. She means the big black household waste bin bags not the poo bags. The poo bags have been placed in the newly emptied bin. The bin men ONLY lift out the household waste bags. They do not rummage about at the bottom. They ONLY remove the household waste bags. This means the poo bags are left in the bottom of her bin and she needs to upend the bin to get them out.

It’s a wheelie bin - they seem to lift bags out and load all into one neighbours bin to tip up. But people have put poo in AFTER they’re emptied too. Give it two weeks between collections and they stick to the bottom of the bin - 🤮

But why do the bin men lift bags out of a wheel bin if it’s the big black bags? That defeats the purpose of a wheely bin?

ticketwoes · 05/03/2026 13:16

Yeah, that’s super rude. Certainly not something I would do when out walking my dog, although strangely I have had people offer their black bins when walking past their front gardens - I’m assuming dog owners also.
i’m sure this will descend in to the usual dog (and owner) hating thread but some of us are just as disgusted and frustrated as no dog owners with the current situation.
I pick up after my dog, and on the less than a handful of times I’ve not left with enough poo bags I have either returned to pick it up, knocked on a door and asked for something to use…and on one occasion used a receipt.
we are out there.

Ask them. I’m not a bin man. I’m purely explaining to you what the OP means.

It was someone else’s bin! And it was empty!

You should ideally take your shit home and bury it in biodegradable bags about four feet underground, ideally.

If you live in a flat don’t get a dog.

We crosposted.

I would complain to the council that their working practice means your bin is t being properly emptied.

Scarlettpixie · 05/03/2026 13:18

I don't put poo bags in other people's bins because they don't like it but I don't mind if people put theirs in mine which is what I do unless I pass a poo bin while on the walk. Our bin does get tipped up though. I can see how it will be annoying if the dog poo bags just get left in the bottom unless you tip up your bin yourself.

I hate this too. So antisocial and inconsiderate.

I also hate the people who hang bags of shit from shrubs and trees down the local park as if some magic dogshit fairy is going to remove it for them.

Oh dear god yes! A poo fairy exists - not!

Also. I am disabled I cannot bury the bags 4 feet underground. However, I do double bag in biodegradable bags and put them either in a dog poo bin or in my own black bin.

Yes and poo bags are black? So the bin men are lifting out the poo bags?

Black domestic waste bags are typically large (50-70 litres), black dog shit bags are very small. Bin men tend to just lift out the large bags and dont bother with the dogshit bags that are left to fester and for the homeowner to sort out. Its really nice to come back from holiday to find your bin has a dozen bags of shit in it that has been slowly simmering in the summer heat.

Here they wheel each bin to the lorry and it is tipped in
