Dog poo!

Bin day and at least 3 people have dropped their dog sh*t bags in my empty black bin - who are these idiots! The bin men lift the black bags out so I end up having to upend the bin to empty it on a regular basis. If this is you don’t do it please! Surely I’m not being unreasonable ..

We crosposted.

I would complain to the council that their working practice means your bin is t being properly emptied.

Don’t think it’s the bin men’s job to fish out dog sh*t bags either. They seem to do their job pretty well

But surely their working practice means that any small loose rubbish is left in your bin?

I don’t put loose things in my bin, I bag it. Thought that was the norm

@Lucelulutwo things can be right. Yes the bin men should be attaching your bin to the lorry rather than lifting the rubbish out. So I would call. And yes people should not be putting their dog poo in your bin. I would put a sign on it. (I have a dog, and would never use someone else’s bin)

ChamonixMountainBum · 05/03/2026 13:41

Submarinara · 05/03/2026 13:24

Here they wheel each bin to the lorry and it is tipped in

Good for you. My bin men just take out the large waste sacks and they are on such tight schedule they dont have time to start fishing around the bottom of bins.

Maybe a better approach would be not to dump dogshit in other people's bins.

MandingoAteMyBaby · 05/03/2026 13:41

Some of the most selfish and entitled people in the UK seem to be dog owners. Abolish dogs.

Dog owners are fucking anti-social. Was reading the other day about the Welsh rugby player hospitalised due to dogs crapping all over the sports pitches. Should be laws that they shit on owners property only.

i’m a dog owner and I’m not ‘fucking anti social’ , nor are the majority of us.

thewitchery · 05/03/2026 13:43

I don't do this, because I am scared of being shouted at by people who don't like it.

However IMO it is a bin and when I lived in a house where my bin was kept in a public place (on the road!) I couldn't care less if folk used mine for dog poo.

There are very few bins around given how many people walk their dogs, I don't like seeing it left on the ground and I dislike even more, when people leave the bags lying around (I assume because nobody wants to casually stroll for miles carrying a turd in a bag).

So it is preferable to me that it goes in my bin. I probably wouldn't even notice to be honest. It's a bin, where I put waste. I don't dive in and sniff it.

Working dogs? Farm dogs? Guide dogs? Medical dogs? Bomb detective dogs? Drug dogs? You are completely batshit.

I don’t bag everything.

I do double bag poo bags but some of my non-recycling I do just put in loose - for example, polystyrene.

Submarinara · 05/03/2026 13:47

My dog is a trained assistance dog. And yes. Properly trained by ADUK.

And cats? How about personally owned horses? (You are definitely batshit)

Jellybunny56 · 05/03/2026 13:53

I have never and would never do this but it wouldn’t bother me at all if someone put their dog poo in my bin to be honest, its not as if I eat my dinner off it😂

But if someone chooses not to own a dog because they don’t want to deal with shit, but then someone puts shit in their bin that they don’t notice, the bag explodes (happened to a friend of mine), and now they’ve got shit all over their bin that they need to clean. The person who decided to own the dog then decided to use someone’s bin to make life easier for themself. But made someone else’s life harder by doing that. Carrying a bag of shit isn’t nice of course. But it’s what you sign up to when getting a dog. Others shouldn’t be inconvenienced by someone else’s choices is all.

It shouldn’t be put in other people’s bins, left on the ground, hung up in trees or anywhere else! Just pick it up and carry it home!

MrFluffyDogIsMyBestFriend · 05/03/2026 14:01

I found that my mum became obsessed with the contents of her bin as she developed dementia.

It's just a bin. I hope you're not upending your bin (slightly disturbing behaviour) and leaving the poo bags on the pavement?

NobSock · 05/03/2026 14:05

lllamaDrama · 05/03/2026 12:46

That’s absolutely gross. Dogs should be banned!

Banned from where, exactly?

Houses? Streets? Planet Earth?

At least there are laws in place that mean it is illegal for them to roam wherever they want, unleashed, and laws that make owners responsible for their dogs poo.

Unlike cats…

It is indeed gross that someone is doing this to the OP, and some dog owners behaviour is dreadful, but to just say “ they should be banned” is silly.

I don't either after I was screamed at by some crazy lunatic who ran outside and upended her bin leaving the bag on the pavement!! That's who I think of when I read these threads. I just ran off because I assumed she was insane and might attack me.

Thatcannotberight · 05/03/2026 14:06

I couldn't imagine using someone else's bin for dog poo. I bag and carry it until I find a council dog poo bin. I don't put it in my own bin either, that's not nice for the bin men. I am the idiot who carries a bag of dog poo for an hour through a country park until I reach the bins. No wonder people hate dogs.

Haha - thanks for the implication of insanity!
I upend then move to the dog litter bin which is literally 40 m from the front of my house.
the only place for the bin generally is next to the front door - no I don’t dive in and sniff it for those who suggest it - but it does start to smell 🤷‍♀️

Anononony · 05/03/2026 14:09

I won't use others bins, I carry my dog shit bags with pride! Our local area just gets worse and worse as the weather warms back up, it's disgusting, all along the canal, through a heritage site, even along the path to school!

I'd rather people use my bin than leave it though, as long as it's bagged I wouldn't have an issue with it, but it's already got my dogs turds in so another won't make a difference.

ThatLilacPlayer · 05/03/2026 14:10

Submarinara · 05/03/2026 13:08

The op said that the bin men removed pop bags from her bin I took that to mean that poo bags shouldn’t go in black bins at all. And now I’m worried I’ve been doing the wrong thing when I brought the poo bags home and put them in my bin.

As long as the poo bags are inside the black bin bag, it should be fine.
I think OP meant the poo bags were loose in the bin, which we can't do here either.

You're welcome :). The dog litter bins go to exactly the same place as the public bins btw so you don't have to put it in a dog litter bin (revolting over-flowing things usually).

Just to add, I always pick up poo and put in public bin. I even take it in my car if there's no bin.
