To get my patio furniture back out already?

Warning: v trivial subject.
Live in Northern France so v similar climate to Southern England. It’s been lovely and sunny for the last week and I’m tempted to bring back out my patio furniture (whicker sofas with big cushions) that have been hibernating in the garage. Is it too soon? Will they just get soaked by rain throughout March? I don’t have covers as they’re big and bulky so once they’re out, they’re staying out for the season. (I can bring the cushions in if a real downpour is forecast.) They cost a lot and I want to keep them in good condition as long as possible! When do you bring out your outdoor furniture?

YABU -it’s too soon

YANBU -bring out the furniture and don’t worry about it getting wet!

Absolutely, get it out. We get few enough sunny days without missing out on enjoying them because your furniture is still in the garage.

We are in the south and I got mine out last weekend. We do have a large pergola / gazebo type thing to provide some shelter from rain if needed though

@Anonanonanonagain Northern islands of Scotland I think…….

whirlyhead · 05/03/2026 15:10

I am in Mallorca. Mine is staying firmly under cover as we have 2 weeks of rain forecast.

Iamthemoom · 05/03/2026 15:11

Mine is already out but cushions go in every night except during a heat wave and we always cover. Why not just buy a good cover?

ShetlandishMum · 05/03/2026 15:12

Put them out? Why not?

Everybodysinthehousetonight · 05/03/2026 15:13

We putting ours out tomorrow in North Surrey.

Createausername1970 · 05/03/2026 15:14

I am south of England.
My patio furniture is cheap and cheerful, from Lidl, aluminium framed, and some of it stayed out over winter. I have been sitting outside with a cuppa on a few occasions already.

March and April are the 4 seasons in one day month, so it's up to you if it's worth the risk or not. How damaged could they get? You're likely to experience 6-8 weeks of anything from hail, snow, sunbathing weather and everything in between!

I'm longing for a after work glass of wine in the sun but trying not to get too excited! I think they call this the 'false spring' season.

Bolton I think!

In regards to the OP, YANBU. I'm itching to get my patio stuff out and my very field looking lawn mowed, but we're predicted more rain next week in my area so I'm reluctantly holding off.
