to want to find Nice Crisps that cost less than £3.90

AIBU to want to find some PROPER CRISPS with just:

  • potatoes
  • olive oil
  • salt

They are SO EXPENSIVE - my current go-to are M&S ones. Admittedly they are a generous bagful, but it seems like olive oil crisps have shot up in price.

Other oils taste icky to me???? And are not as crunchy.

Does anyone have a good SOURCE of Nice Crisps that meet my requirements?

Ooh that is useful, thank you. Although don't have a local Waitrose. Might justify the car journey though for a large box of those bad boys

Hmm looks like only ONE is cooked in olive oil

I think I'd expect to pay a lot for olive oil because it's way more expensive than normal crisp oil. Plus they are aiming at a market prepared to pay.

You could compare them to all these and then reassure yourself that £3.90 is Not That Much.

Pafritas Spanish Potato Crisps (Sea Salt) : Amazon.co.uk: Grocery

It's times like this when I'm thankful that I'm a complete heathen when it comes to crisps because my favourite ones are either Taylor's (ex Mackies) which are about half that price, thick cut and not as crunchy - I don't like proper crunchy 'posh' crisps. Or Seabrooks.

I also like the cheapest plain crisps sold by the sack in Spanish supermarkets or given out as a tapa with a beer. DP and I go to Spain a lot and when we go to the supermarket, he gets his green Lays and I get my cheap bag of plain crisps to have with drinks on the balcony and I'm happy.

I AGREE about the holiday thing.

I have looked in local Polish supermarkets, which have a grand selection of Lays, but the ingredients are absolute shite.

They probably are in Spain too, but the balcony and beer make them seem like manna from heaven...

I'm not sure it's good to fry in olive oil anyway because of its relatively low smoke point.
