To finally be happy I’ve found a new career.

I worked hard to qualify in a new field, despite my age. After years of working in a job and feeling completely undervalued, things are really looking up.

In my old job, I was expected to spin 5,000 plates and be the general dogs body, because everyone is so busy (and I apparently wasn’t 🙄🙄). The only time anything I did would be acknowledged, is if I dropped a plate! All the hours of overtime I did, whilst being the lowest paid, just went completely un noticed.

Well I’m so glad I retrained. I am now working in a new role where my knowledge is valued. Where my salary has increased by half, and where I am not interrupted constantly with more and more demands on me.

I finish work on time. I don’t have to sit on my laptop in the evenings or at the weekends. I actually can’t believe the difference this has on my life.

Sorry if this is a braggy post, but irl, I am downplaying how happy I am, so as not to be that braggy person, but I’m just so happy that my hard work has paid off, and I just needed to share somewhere!

Good for you OP. It's nice to hear a story where hard work pays off!

I can imagine the added financial security is a nice bonus on top of feeling valued! ☺️

Thanks. It’ll make a huge difference to my quality of life. I’m not rich and my salary isn’t huge, but it’s a huge step in the right direction. And funnily enough, less hard work than what I was being paid so much less to do.
