...sorry, I mean Iraq though it might as well have been Iran and Palestine

I wonder what Tony would think of what the US and Israel are doing at the moment. Will the international community continue to insist that Israel and the US stop bombing Iran and prevent the conflict widening?

Germany and Japan in 1945 might want to have a word with you about regime change never being achieved by air strikes

We had to invade Germany by force - they would never have surrender just by air.

And as for Japan - we really don't want that sort of air strike again if possible. Think what it would do to house prices.

Gay men slaughtered, a speck of hair showing gets you beaten by the morality police, music and entertainment largely banned, girls as young as 12 raped, a woman’s testimony worth 1/3 of a man’s, I could go on. Most Iranians are celebrating and want this liberation from a decades long evil repressive regime. They know it comes at a cost and most believe it’s worth paying for their children and their children. We don’t have to like tRump personally. But he has initiated liberation for Iranians and all pro democracy and pro human rights nations should back this action.

So Afghanistan next then? By that logic

I mean I know we tried Afghanistan before and it went so well .. really made a long term change

Benn hated the Iranian regime!

He worked with the Shah in the 1970s and acknowledged how far right the regime was when it came to power.

You do know that Iran has executed 5,000 people just for being gay since 1979?

I think the point he is making is that nothing makes bombing right.

And he would have also pointed out that the US right now really has no moral standing and should be sorting out the inequities in its own country instead of bombing another. And to be honest we all know that this really is nothing about Iran's human rights situation anyway.

No, Germany had attacked several other countries, notably amongst which was the Soviet Union, who ultimately defeated them. This doesn't compare to the "regime change" situations we have today.

Japan - again - the effect of the defeats may have been regime change to a greater or lesser extent, but a war wasn't started against them in order to achieve regime change in a comparable way.

@PandoraSocks I forgot to mention, Al J also said that the group who determined 30K was funded but wouldn't say who the funder was, I think.
