To me life means the life of the prisoner who has the sentence of life, but any sentence if you get 25 years you behave and you will be out in 25 years if you misbehave you get 30. 35, 40 etc, not 25 years and be out in 10 because you are misunderstood

No, I agree. Some people are beyond rehabilitation. Lock them up and throw away the key, why should civil society have to tolerate this?

A life sentence means a prisoner, once released on license, can be returned any time in the future if their behaviour warrants it.

It’s about prison management: people are much more likely to behave inside if there is some hope that they could be released. The prison service tries to spot who has genuinely changed and who is likely to reoffend but sometimes they make mistakes.
