On the bbc news today there was something about them not working so check that out before you buy

Thehop · 27/02/2026 20:42

I'm very happy with elevate. I did my research. It's bovine and marine, contains bit c and comes with a female multivitamin that's really good. I figure it can't hurt me and may do some good so why not? I'm sure my skin and hair are better and my hips ache less in the morning. I'll be sticking with it

NormasArse · 27/02/2026 20:44

I’ve just ordered an Ancient & Brave one. I looked at the reviews and they were positive.

I’ll report back!

I'm getting their adverts on Facebook. They are just loads and loads of photos of celebrities who have had very obvious facelifts and Botox accompanied with "their secret is elevate collagen". Not it's not. Their secret is that half of their face is now in the biohazard bin.

Yes I started taking them because I had osteoarthritis. I was amazed how soft they made my skin and hair. Both feel lovely and even my hairdresser commented on what good condition my hair is. I’m 67 and my skin is very healthy I don’t have as many wrinkles as my friends of the same age although I do have have some, mainly when I smile. They made my eyes look brighter and my nails stronger. I’ve been taking them for about 3 years now. My arthritis has improved but that could be because I started going to the gym twice a week for about 2 years now. I won’t stop taking them

AgathaX · 27/02/2026 20:56

I've been taking it for 6 or 7 months now. This winter I've had much less joint pain than for the past 10 or so years. My nails are growing faster and so is my hair. My hairdresser has commented on my hair too.
I think my skin is better but it's hard to know if that's collagen or changing skin care products.
I'm aware that there is little research to support it, but for me I think it's definitely helped.

Mouthfulofquiz · 27/02/2026 21:20

@Happyher which supplement do you take? Looking for a recommendation after hearing on radio 4 today about the positive effects.

DizziLizzy · 27/02/2026 21:27

Anyone tried Nutrition Geeks? My friend swears by it but can't say I've seen a difference in her- not that id say anything!

Happyher · 27/02/2026 21:29

I use these

No but I have weirdly just ordered their collagen powder tonight!, so will feedback in about 6-8 weeks 😂

Wonderknicks · 27/02/2026 21:32

Every time these threads come up I point out that ingesting collagen is just like eating any other protein. Your gut is designed to break it down into its constituent amino acids which your body then uses as building blocks to make other proteins. It has no way of knowing that you want it to replace collagen.

FurForksSake · 27/02/2026 21:43

The research showed that it apparently does make a difference to elasticity and moisture levels in skin. I also was in the camp of they don’t work and ingesting collagen is a bit of a waste of time. But, I got a bit desperate and have been taking an alpha zero one multi collagen for a while and anecdotally my skin, hair and nails do look better.

Ancient and Brave is marketing over substance so id go for the cheapest multi collagen and vitamin c and not expect to see masses of difference but to keep going as it takes a while.

I also take creatine as it’s got great research to back up that it has an effect on energy, muscle and brain. Again, I go for a cheaper one as it doesn’t matter the brand really.

SewingWarriorQueen76 · 27/02/2026 22:15

I’m using Nutrition Geeks collagen and I no longer feel like a creaky old lady.
I’m not so bother about the hair and skin claims but my hips don’t hurt any more and I feel more flexible.

TeenLifeMum · 27/02/2026 22:21

I cynically tried ancient and brave marine in September, loved the difference it made and then tried bovine because it was half price. I like it as much so switched back to marine and have kept going. I noticed my skin is better and hair growth could be seen within 4 weeks. My friend uses nutrition geek and is really happy but I decided I don’t like how much you need to put in your drink compared to ancient and brave.

AngryBird6122 · 27/02/2026 22:30

Just beware the liquid ones that come in little sachets for your daily dose (eg Revive) , so much packaging waste it's a joke

Go for a powder or capsule instead

VanillaImpulse · 27/02/2026 22:35

I found Zooki really good but at £2 a day I’m out (had an introductory offer that was amazing but didn’t continue once full price)

Used their collagen for the first time this
morning, and remembered to take a pic as well so I can compare in a few weeks.

I read the full article and its doesn't state they don't work, it goes into detail about what they may or may not support with, ie not a miracle cure for wrinkles, which they're not.

I’ve used Ancient and Brave for a while now. I add it to coffee and it has no taste at all so I’m glad of that.

whatifs1 · 28/02/2026 10:14

Nope, I think all these supplements are a complete fad.

you should get most of your nutrition from actual food.

I totally get it if you have a restricted diet and need support.

i also think you should have a blood panel first to see if you actually need to supplement anything!

I’ve been using their collagen for 3 months now and I have definitely seen an improvement in my knee pain, which is the main reason why I started taking it. I have been recommending it to people and I will carry on taking it.

OhCobblers · 28/02/2026 11:39

I was reading that you should take a collagen containing Vit C (probably an IG ad!) and I was taking Will Powders that doesn’t list Vit C in the ingredient list. Can’t say whether it worked or not as I was always forgetting to take it! But I’m on a mission now so wondering whether to try something else that contains Vit C too?

I've been taking it for a month now, after seeing the effects on my friend, (her skin was amazing) and my joints are less achy and skin a little plumper, but still early days, I read it takes about 3 months to really notice the difference

FurForksSake · 28/02/2026 11:45

Yes, you need the vitamin c alongside it for it to be absorbed properly. You can just take a cheap vitamin c alongside it.
