My question to them was, can you please clarify what the criteria of a culturally diverse community is?

I find very bizarre that they are not able to give a concise replay along the lines of, as the finding came from ‘c’ the criteria applied is ‘y’. Makes it all the more frustrating and upsetting.

I don't have any issue at all with charities targeting services towards specific subsections of the population where they can evidence a specific need and are funded to do so. I think a lot of the outrage on your original thread was misplaced, and based on a poor understanding of both the Equality Act and the way in which charities operate.

That said, I do agree that "culturally diverse communities" is a poorly defined and somewhat meaningless phrase that shouldn't really exclude anyone - nearly everyone in the UK these days will be part of a culturally diverse community.

I also think that that's a crap response from the charity to your question. I fully accept that charities frequently have to make difficult decisions due to lack of funding or capacity or whatever, but it is reasonable that they should be willing to explain the rationale behind any decisions that they have made.
