To think nothing would have happened if the video hadn't been shared?

I'm sure most of you have seen the video of a boy being assaulted near a Glasgow school today, shared by his grandmother. AIBU to think that scenes like this are not uncommon and very little often gets done about it? I wonder if this would have been acted on if the video hadn't been shared so widely.

Also, one last aibu - but I feel these attackers should be permanently expelled from school.

I hadn't heard anything about this so just looked it up.

It appears to be a deliberate attempt to stir up racial trouble in Glasgow. The video was shared by Tommy Robinson not the grandmother.

Absolutely shameless troublemaking. The school say the attack was not racially motivated.

This is why I roll my eyes when people lay into the people who film horrible incidents. If they weren’t filming there would be no evidence! Back when I was younger lots of very nasty stuff happened and it was never filmed and never believed. We’re now in a golden age of people getting their comeuppance

Not to forget Tommy’s involvement in placing the schoolboy fight between Jamal Hijazi and Bailey McLaren as racially motivated, putting his slant on it that “Jamal deserved it”

Which when it came back to him as libel Tommy went online to confirm that he was “only reporting what he had been told, but turned out to be rumors based on lies”
But that didn’t let him off the hook for libel so all of his money disappeared and he went bankrupt
He still has not paid damages for libel (which he evades under bankruptcy) nor costs for his appeal (which is post bankruptcy so still applies)

It’s entirely coincidental that Bailey McLarens older brother Reece McLaren is a long term friend of Tommy and cocaine smuggler …… and one of Tommy’s responses to account for his disappearing money is cocaine

Well i didn't see the BBC news item. But other news sources report the video was deliberately shared by Tommy Robinson to whip up racial violence when the attack was not racial.

There have been some absolutely awful instances of young people being attacked by gangs of their peers where the attack has been filmed and the footage shared. This has been an on going problem for some time.
Quite often either the perpetrators or the victims or both are girls. And quite often the attacks are in parks and community spaces.
It's a horrible trend that has been common for quite a long time. In this case added exploitation of the incident for political motives adds another dimension to it.
