Does anyone else think that one day shoplifting will be completely out of control?

We are already seeing an increase every day.

Threads on here like Greggs and Chocolate being stolen.
We all know it's getting worse because there aren't any consequences .

Surely this is a dangerous slippery slope?
Where is it all heading for shops?
Don't we need to do something before it's totally uncontrollable?

Can't we bring the consequences back and be on it like we used to be?
Anyone else worried where it's heading?
Would absolutely hate to have a shop today?

I’m a foster carer. Recent issues with teen shoplifting. Been told by social worker that we’ve all done it as teenagers, it’s just a phase. Erm, no. I never stole. My husband said him and his mates never shoplifted, my adult kids all said they never did or their mates (we are open family especially now as adults so believe them), checked with a few friends and nope they never did either.
So, have I missed something and actually it’s always been common? Or no, it never was common and it shouldn’t be seen as common now. I was shocked at social worker response to be honest. Understanding why kids might do it is one thing but to say, oh we all did it, completely another!
So yes, I completely agree with you. We are heading for a population of unmanageable, disrespectful and unlawful people, where no one cares or takes responsibility.

It's seems frightened to think one day it could be the norm to see people walking out without paying and not even hiding it one day.

I bet these people have never run their own business.
