To tell my boss ADHD meds have turned him into a nightmare

My boss has always been the loveliest guy and a massive reason I took the job I’m in now, because I wanted to work with him. He has ADHD - that’s never been in question, he’s (usually) mad as a box of frogs and really unstructured, scatty etc.

Recently he’s started ADHD meds and he’s really enjoying being on them. He’s definitely a lot more structured and organised, says he can think more clearly.

The problem is, they make him horrible! He’s really grumpy and snappy when he’s on them. It’s like he loses all empathy, doesn’t listen, no sense of humour. It’s like his light has gone out.

We work in a creative industry where we work closely together so it’s definitely harder to collaborate on projects when he’s so snappy all the time and no longer listens to my ideas.

So. WIBU to say something? And if so how? It’s a medical thing so I could potentially get in trouble for saying something I guess. The funny thing is pre meds I definitely would have felt I could talk to him about anything. But on them I worry I’d get my head bitten off.

Tell him!

It usually means he'd be better off trying another type of meds. He needs to know but no idea how you can approach this! Good luck.

I have no idea if I'm talking bollocks, but do meds for ADHD have to be adjusted, like lots of others to ensure the dosage is correct for each individual? If so, this might be a side effect that he should note.
