Road Rage

Have just been shouted at by a vile bloke in a car. On a road with cars double parked - i pulled in to let him pass (the only place i could) but unbeknown to me i was half blocking the road he wanted to turn down. He wasn’t indicating so i didn’t know.
i turned to apologise but he was literally spitting and shouting with rage. He could still turn just slightly more awkward for him. He carried on shouting and would the window down to shout a load of verbal aswell.
This was near a primary school during the school run so loads of kids about.
It didn’t really bother me but why do this? It was an error on my part that inconvenienced him slightly. He would not have done this to a man, am fairly sure. Nothing achieved except winding himself up. Aibu to think why do people - mostly men do this to women drivers!

It's because they are misogynistic pillocks.

FreshInks · 24/02/2026 16:47

Because he hates women. He definitely wouldn’t do it to a man.

LittleCrumblyBiscuit · 24/02/2026 16:48

He’s a dick, it’s that simple. He’ll probably always be a dick and will have a miserable life simmering in his own rage.

Goodadvice1980 · 24/02/2026 16:51

Small dick energy, forget it and move on. Imagine living with a tosser like that!

AgnesX · 24/02/2026 16:51

Guys like that are arseholes with an entitlement problem. Its as simple as that.

The anger from men on the roads is quite shocking.

A few months ago had stopped in traffic, so couldn't move anyway, and allowed someone to cross in front of me and the 60+ year old man behind me lost his shit, he held his hand on his horn for ages, then jumped out of his car, tried my door, then proceeded to scream "is your cunt as thick as your head" he was so angry, spitting and snarling, all I could do was laugh in his face, as he was being so ridiculous, but it was a horrible thing to experience.

melonhen · 24/02/2026 16:57

Because he’s just a silly little boy who still has tantrums as an adult, if you did the same he’d call you crazy. I’d have just laughed at him.

JustGiveMeReason · 24/02/2026 17:16

People who are angry on the roads are angry towards all other drivers on the road. Of course he'd swear at drivers who are men.

JuliettaCaeser · 24/02/2026 17:17

Comfort yourself with the thought of his early death due to stress related heart attack from being such an angry git.

JuliettaCaeser · 24/02/2026 17:20

I got beeped at for letting pedestrians cross on a zebra crossing 🙄

The worst was a small angry man shouting misogynistic abuse as I was taking too long to park in a small space. I gave up and let him have the space. He couldn’t park it in either 🙄. Sped off in screech of tyres

Abd80 · 24/02/2026 17:20

What a Dick

They don't do it to other men simply because the threat of physical altercation is higher and riskier. Otherwise they would.

I've had this happen to me too OP. Sometimes it's a small error or mistake that a kinder, less deranged person might simply choose to respond to with grace. Sometimes it's the other person's issue altogether. I had a woman shouting and waving behind the wheel in the car behind me after I slowed and stopped suddenly to avoid an unexpected pothole. She was following me extremely closely on an otherwise empty road full of roadworks and signs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

In the Tesco's near me, part of the car park is apparently one way only. I hadn't realised and went down the wrong way. A man followed me frothing and raging and even got out of his car once I'd parked to shout at me. It didn't even affect him, he was just enraged that I was going the wrong way.

Surely a normal person would want to be helpful, maybe point out to the person their mistake for their own benefit, as much as anything else?

You just have to try not to take it personally, although it is hard.

Isobel201 · 24/02/2026 17:31

I would have just driven away tbh there was obviously no chance of talking him down.

HollyBerri · 24/02/2026 17:50

I did just drive away and didn’t engage. The only slight bit of satisfaction was that I could have pulled forward a bit to make it easier for him but i didn’t bother.
He definitely wouldn’t have done this to a man who could possibly have caught up with him & confronted him.
I told DD and she says she gets it a lot being a woman - who looks very young. Seems to make the mysoginists worse. Probably think she is easier to bully.
