I obviously wouldn’t actually advocate for this, but sometimes when you read something like this there is a temptation to practice the ‘eye for an eye’ model of justice.

Absolute joke of a sentence. I’m not usually one to wish harm on another person but in this case I actually hope they get a taste of their own medicine. Evil pair.

I think it’s telling that they both apparently grew up on family farms with animals . I hope those farms have been very fully investigated indeed, including with surprise spot checks.

I'm a bit puzzled why one of them, in the course of his work had been asked to cut a fox in half, so it could be moved. I agree that the men they worked with and the family they come from, should be looked at. Hopefully the pair who reported them, can get over what they witnessed. I doubt it's the first time. Strange they were in a livestock field with fireworks.

I genuinely don’t get shocked often but this and the lady who was jailed for hosting a monkey bashing online business just honestly made me cry. Why? What on earth possesses people to do these things? I feel guilty if I accidentally squish a lady bird let alone hurt another living thing. I just don’t understand it. Can we really blame upbringing? Surely every sane living human knows right from wrong?

Let’s hope there are animal lover inmates in prison who’ll give them a good kicking.

Exactly. People know right from wrong. These despicable individuals chose to do what they did and they need to own it instead of blaming it on some bullshit sob story. Cruelty like this gives me the absolute rage. How they can live with themselves I do not know. I hope they never go on to have children themselves. The poor little thing. An innocent little baby lamb. It's interesting that the boys were raised on farms. Maybe it did something to them mentally, seeing lambs being slaughtered, and just made them cold to it. Although the animal suffered here more than in slaughter, slaughter is still a horrific thing and contrary to popular belief it is not humane. Few methods of killing are.

It's sickening and unbelievable that they could even think up such evil behaviour, and they grew up on farms, blows the mind. A far harsher punishment should have been given. I remember once reading a story of teens dropping a kitten from a high block of flats, then running down and getting it and then repeating the whole thing thing until it died and crying and wishing someone would push them off the high balcony so they knew what it felt like.

Completely agree. I mean, what do we expect to happen in the next ten years, they become normal functioning adults? Seems unlikely given what they’ve done.

The other parts of the sentences are also far too lenient. They should be getting very significant jail time.

I’m starting to get sick of how we pussyfoot around total scum who contribute the square root of nothing to society, and just make life worse for everyone. We need to be far, far less tolerant of this shit.

Some village lads I vaguely knew did this with a pet cat that was still very much alive with a rocket in each end.
Fortunately they had a car crash not long after - one died & the other had life changing injuries - this was back in the 1980s so medicine was obviously not as good.
Like the rest of the village I was delighted with what happened although I had empathy with their families.
And for those of you that say ‘oh it was just a cat’ & the lads didn’t deserve to die or lose a leg, these guys got pleasure from ramming fireworks down a live animal’s throat & into its anus & blowing it to pieces.
The lack of empathy was frightening & god only knows how it would’ve ended up.
