Anyone else having trouble with their Alexa and Spotify accounts? Mine have randomly unpaired.

I’d say this happened at the beginning of the year; until then, both accounts worked in sync and I was able to listen to music on my Alexa (Echo Dot) with Spotify (family account, and it still works fine on my phone).
It’s frustrating. I miss listening to music while cooking or whatever. I have tried everything I can think of to sort it. I have unplugged and plugged my Alexa. I have deleted the Alexa app and reinstalled it. I have unlinked both accounts and paired them again. Both are showing as paired on the app but the Alexa will not play music on Spotify. I get this message whenever I try: ‘to play Spotify, enable the skill and link your account.’ I have now done this many times but to no avail.
Is this now a common thing? No one else I’ve spoken to has had this issue. I’m wondering if it’s because my device (Echo Dot) is now pretty old. I don’t know if it’s a drive to make people sign up to Amazon Music.
Thanks for reading.

I had the same , did the same , nothing worked so I gave up. You could well be right about the Apple Music thing. Mines not that old though, it’s a show .

Hi @3smallpups
Thanks for your reply! Glad in a way that I’m not the only one this has happened to. How long ago? And did they work ok in combination before? Not sure what you mean by ‘it’s a show.’ A shit-show for sure 😁

I had a huge discussion with Amazon over it. Did you change your router/ISP?

I think it is something in the software because mine work with no issues if I run the echo tethered, but not on the home WiFi. Another thing I noticed is our baby monitor interferes with it too.

They suddenly started working (albeit only sometimes) after months of to and fro.

We have several devices, the older ones work better and more consistently. The newest one is much less reliable.
Sometimes they play on the wrong device even though that device couldn't have heard us.
