johnso · 16/06/2008 14:34

DH is trying to put his foot down, but that rarely stops me.
I want a cleaner. Our son's are at school all day, I have the time but I have a lot on my to do list, too.
DH says I should have the time to it!!
The swine!!!!
Is it really that big a deal?

£2 an hour? Is she anywhere near London, I'll pay her flight costs at that price.

johnso · 18/06/2008 14:06

Just spoke to my friend and she says 2 pound an hour is fair as she does not pay tax on it.

OP posts:
johnso · 18/06/2008 14:13

Seems fairer to me now, it is the equivalent of around a fiver an hour then isn't it?

fi she can get to Kew I'll pay her £3.

brightongirldownunder · 18/06/2008 14:55

If she can get to Sydney I may be generous and offer her £3.50.

Kewcumber · 18/06/2008 14:56

and free entry into the Gardens...

brightongirldownunder · 18/06/2008 15:02

and a tour around the Opera House AND Botanical Gardens. Beat that Kew. The cleaner's mine.

Kewcumber · 18/06/2008 15:05

bugger

johnso · 18/06/2008 16:47

She is a pensioner, I don't think that she will travel well

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 18/06/2008 16:56

will she be spritely enough to scrub your floors then?

Lauriefairycake · 18/06/2008 17:04

You are not a feminist

you are a woman who wants to exploit another woman by paying £2 an hour

VictorianSqualor · 18/06/2008 17:17

Can't you get your friend to do it for a loaf of bread and some fruit?

johnso · 18/06/2008 17:58

I am providing extra income for a pensioner. There is no exploitation going on here

OP posts:
Lauriefairycake · 18/06/2008 20:55

pensionsers don't deserve a fair wage

not only not a feminist but ageist too

you are charming and you sound like a fabulous person

ScottishMummy · 18/06/2008 23:01

johnso your posts are lame.stick to the pasta and cleaning gaffs.why do you persist trolling all the time

girlshookup · 18/06/2008 23:08

whats so fantastic about cleaning anyway? Why can't she have one if she wants one and do other more enjoyable things for herself? I think some people have a 'moralising' attitude to having cleaners, bit like you can only have one if you're rich or powerful, they're not for the likes of us serfs who should scrub our own steps. Give over, have a cleaner if you want one, they are good, do it better and in half the time. Thats a bit controversial for me, but its what I think

girlshookup · 18/06/2008 23:11

But you must pay a fair wage- no less than minimum, mine was £8 an hour for 3 hrs a week and worth every penny, then she got a proper job. (and I'm as far from London as you can get). Sorry didn't realise it was a pensioner doing bob-a job- oo- er thats not on really. I'm taking this too seriously aren't I, you're having a laugh really- 2 quid, my dd wont empty the cat tray for that

brightongirldownunder · 19/06/2008 02:54

Trolling can be fun SM as long as its in jest. Its cheered me up no end. If there can be lighhearted threads about 80's music, being ignored on MN, oral sex (just some I have read recently) I think we can have something like this. Anything is better than the bullying I watched happen yesterday.
Is anyone really offended by this?

ScottishMummy · 19/06/2008 08:42

i love a good wind up if funny!this is just trying too hard

hullygully · 19/06/2008 09:15

The best thing about trolling is that people still post their serious opinions anyway and get all hot and bothered...surreal. What was the bullying? I always miss the good bits - nothiong like a ravening pack mentality!

mrsruffallo · 19/06/2008 12:42

I agree with brighton girl- most posters just had a laugh with this I think.
Humour has a place on MN doesn't it?

jamescagney · 22/06/2008 14:30

so silly johnso! why don't you grow up? if you really were feminist as you claim to be then you would know that the term "housewife is as offensive as yard n*gger", from the wonderful Germaine Greer.
please go and buy yourself a life you poor little woman!

brightongirldownunder · 22/06/2008 14:33

Calling johnso....are you out there?
Missing your comments!

henrys7thwife · 22/06/2008 17:20

hahahahaha

has immensely cheered up my boring day with the brood gone to Wales.

Oh, johnso, if you're a feminist why do you depend on your husband's wages for everything? Okay, so here's Johnso's day:

  1. Rise, but don't dress. (Remember, she burned all her bras.) Take children to school.

2)Come back home, take a nap. Rise again, sometime around 10 if it wasn't 'a late night', presumably after she consumed 2 bottles of wine after her very hard day. Take bath.

  1. Cup of tea. One for the pensioner too trying to bend her knees to wring out the mop.

  2. Ask pensioner to turn on the TV, lest she do any actual 'work' by pressing the button.

  3. Since pensioner has finished with house in 2 hours, ask her to cook a nice lunch. Tell pensioner to see herself out, giving her a lovely ten pound note for her mildly given effort (out of the goodness of Johnso's heart).

  4. Collect children from school, deposit in front of TV.

  5. Call DH and ask to bring home take-away, lest she have to actually COOK something.

  6. Consume wine.

  7. Bed. Ignore DH.

Do you think women like this actually exist? Wonder what Johnso does in real life...

brightongirldownunder · 23/06/2008 15:06

Could Johnso actually be a man?
If she was who would she be? Alan Sugar?
