Do I need to concern myself with these Trump import headlines that the Guardian keeps on notifying me about?

I don't worry about Trump as I don't live in the country that democratically elected him.

I am following a low stress life path these days

You might have to worry about him if he bombs your country, replaces your government, threatens to take your country from you, have crippling tariffs imposed on you etc

topcat2014 · 21/02/2026 19:31

@Chesterdrawsshe may well do that to 'a' country, of course, but not to the UK.

You think he’s going to do that to the U.K.?

It's not an impossible scenario. He was threating to invade Denmark, and has declared he wants Canada as an American state.

Regarding the tariffs - just don't buy anything from America and it won't affect you.

If you have a defined contribution pension or S&s ISA, and you need to cash them on in the couple of years, then yes you should worry, as he affects stock markets.
Other than that you will see a worsening or continuing if the slow economic decline that we've all been experiencing. Jobs will be harder to come buy, goods will become more expensive to buy. You take home pay won't go as far as it does now.

But the world won't end
