To ask for kitchen layout advice…

I want to knock through from the kitchen to the dining room.

I’m happy to lose the side door as there’s a back patio door. There’s a pantry accessed from the kitchen at the moment (the door with wiggly line underneath “x 8’0” on the floorplan). I’m happy to move the pantry door so it is accessed from the hall to give more wall space in the tiny kitchen (and probably make it a downstairs loo).

Please can anyone give me decent new layouts for the kitchen. I’m open to any ideas. Need room for a dining table in there somewhere and plenty of cupboard space. Also, will need dishwasher, washing machine and separate dryer.

i keep trying different things, but have no idea what will work best. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hopefully the layout photo will post soon. It’s under review currently.

I have a few questions.
Would space for a free standing fridge freezer be required?
Is this room to work as just a kitchen/diner or would additional seating such as a sofa be wanted?
what shape dining table? Also would you want a small island?
if you’d be able to consider the downstairs toilet to be fitted either under the stairs or in the cupboard in the hall behind the front door then I think you could achieve a better space for the kitchen by removing the larder.

are you considering any additional worktop space or tall storage cupboards?

Thanks for your fab pictures Clemmie.

I’m happy for a free standing or built in fridge freezer, but will need one of those.

Ideally, if there was the room, I’d love a sofa in there as well. I just can’t work out if there would be space for everything!

My current table is a long rectangular shape, but I’m happy to get a new one that fits the space better, so am fairly flexible.

i do like the idea of an island or peninsula, but I wondered if without one, there’d be more floor space for a table and sofa.

The cupboard next to the front door has the electricity meter and consumer unit in it. They are low down on the front wall and I’ve been told it will cost a fortune for the electricity board to move. This would be the ideal location for the downstairs toilet, but the cost may be an issue. Under the stairs is fine though, if head height allows.

I’d like a decent amount of worktop space, as it’s an issue at the moment having so little. In my mind, I’d like floor to ceiling cupboards along the wall where the side door currently is, perhaps with a washer & dryer in a stack within it, but I’m very open to any and all suggestions that would work for myself and my two children (14 & 11).

Do consider getting pan drawers, rather than just cupboards. Don’t get hung up on having an island or peninsula. I wanted a sofa in my kitchen but there just wasn’t room in the end.
