Has anyone gone through adoption, when one side has voluntary put themselves into a mental health hospital as a teenager, my son in law was in a serious crash as a teenager which resulted in his brother dieing and he nearly died twice on the operating theatre.
He's had no issues since and is 40 now, has a good career and got his life back to normal.

Are you asking if your son is able to adopt, having had mental illness as a teenager?

Of course him seeking support as a teenager several decades ago after a traumatic life event won't impact his ability to pursue adoption.

Surely the Adoption board is going to be a more appropriate place to ask, rather than AIBU? You can ask to get the thread moved...
