I was thinking today about how much i love drinking cold water straight from the tap. No glass. Either cup hands and drink from them or put my mouth down to catch the water. Love it.
What are some weird things you love

Smooshing the cat first thing in the morning.

BecauseofyouIlearntnottotrust · 12/02/2026 19:05

Standing outside barefoot in the rain in summer.

I love rubbing smooth soft dog hair on my face, particularly the bit between my nose and top lip.
A Jack Russell’s ear is ideal and the top of a cocker spaniel’s head is nice too

I hear you.. I've had many breeds of dog over the years but the feel of a short haired dogs ears is just divine. So calming.

I do this too, love a velvety ear 😂

I love picking spots, Dr Pimple Popper would be my dream job! I love plucking eyebrows when a massive root comes out too.

My Labrador’s ears were very velvety.

Not the point of the thread, but I'm down an Adam and the Ants rabbit hole now. I'd forgotten just how gorgeous he was!

booksnbaking · 12/02/2026 19:15

Ooooooh ... fans self

71, wtf! That means I must be ... er ...

Oh God.

TiredAndUseless1493 · 12/02/2026 19:23

Wearing socks to bed, waking up a bit uncomfortable, and taking the socks off and stretching out my feet in the bedsheets. Sometimes I wear socks to bed so that I can look forward to waking up, with hours left before the alarm, and taking them off.

One of my cats loves to head butt me. I love his soft ears against my face. My face fits perfectly onto his head with his ears brushing against my eyelids. The top of his head smells like a field of oilseed rape in flower under the hot sun (amazingly, because his breath is grim!) and he is a LOUD purrer. He’ll head butt and purr and then just stay with his head against mine for a good 30 seconds and it’s wonderful.

I’m hooked on my Vicks inhaler - I had one when I had a cold and now I just use it through every day - I swear it helps clear my head or relax me (I dunno ) 😆😆

I love these too! Always have one in my handbag 😊

In other news YouTube crashes after a surge of requests to view Adam and the Ants videos .

How is he 71. Lordy I am feeling old now. "Desperately back combs hair, covers hair in country born hair spray, adds a slick of iced champink lipstick and squeezes into a ruffled blouse under a gents style dinner suit"

neverbeenskiing · 12/02/2026 19:35

Making a "nnnnyyyyyyeeeeeooooww" racing car type noise when I drive around a tight corner...only when i'm on my own in the car though 😂

Pinkwhales · 12/02/2026 19:48

To return to the topic I love being the first person to enter the pool in a lane swim, perfectly still water. Bliss

WonsWoo · 12/02/2026 08:39

Gazing out of the window as a car passenger and zoning out. Even better if it’s driving through the countryside.

DH says I look like I’m in a cheesy ballad music video!

this is me. I find more joy being drive to the holiday place than the actual holiday

Onesailwait · 12/02/2026 20:10

I walk my dog on the beach every day and it's covered in shells. In particular buttercup Lucine. When you step in them they have the most amazing crunch. I can plot my footsteps for the whole walk crunching over them.

Maybe its just me 🤣

this is how we drank water from the toilet taps when going to school. Or at any other point we were out and thirsty, while growing up

BreatheAndFocus · 12/02/2026 20:12
  • Sniffing a new book - l love it and have to stop myself burying my face in it for hours 😁
  • Lying in bed on clean, fresh cool sheets after being out in the sun.
  • Mixing scoops of ice cream up in the bowl until they’ve melted into the consistency of a thick cream - love the texture and coldness.
  • Eating almond butter out of the jar.
  • Opening the silver foil lid on a bottle of doorstep milk by pressing it in. Reminds me of school and childhood.
  • Nibbling off the biscuit bottom of a stick of Twix then rolling up the caramel chocolate top layer and putting it in my mouth in one go.
Moonlightdust · 12/02/2026 20:15

Squeezing a blackhead! Especially if it’s been annoying me and I can feel it under my skin for a few days - instant gratification!
Adding to bodily discomforts - I have successfully removed 2 skin tags using those removal bands for first time this week. I bizarrely enjoyed the process of seeing them dry up and fall off. One of them had been bugging me for years and in the most irritating place right between my boobs 🙈 I’m so happy it’s gone! 🥳

irridium · 12/02/2026 20:18

So desperate to smell dogs or cats smelly tootsies. I don't have the opportunity to do that anymore (been many years). It's the worn down stench of natural oils and grassy and muddy notes of being outside that makes my soul fizz with joy. Does anyone know what I mean?

It pains me so much, my cat wouldn't allow me to go near hers. (Yes, I've been trying for years, and still she's not so affectionate as I'd like her to.) She's too aloof for that nonsense from me.

SulkySeagull · 12/02/2026 20:26

Getting in th bed fresh from the shower still a bit damp. I don’t know what it is but it’s sooo relaxing

Smells like cheesy wotsits

ChipsandCheesewithGravy · 12/02/2026 20:32

Mine is really weird.
You know that feeling when your coming down with a cold/bit of a flu? Not full blown but exhausted and you get into bed.

Mind the drinking fountains
Half bowl in appearance with spout in the middle and wee handle at the side.

Love this thread particularly like the childish behaviour when no one else is around.

I have a recurrent blackhead just above my right eyebrow - really annoys me but I love popping the little bugger out every six weeks or so!

scalt · 12/02/2026 21:19

@BecauseofyouIlearntnottotrust I like being outdoors barefoot in rain in summer. I’ve done it recently in the everlasting wet, walked in flip flops on my muddy and waterlogged lawn. Squelch!

I like to wear trainers without socks, most of the year: I I like the way it feels, even though it’s a mumsnet sin.
