Would you rather live in the countryside, with trips to the city, or live in the city, with trips to the countryside?

Live in the city. I can’t stand the idea of having to drive everywhere.

skippy67 · 11/02/2026 15:58

Live in the city.

Humdrumqueen · 11/02/2026 16:02

I live on the rural coast. Day to day life is shit.

would rather live in the city and visit the countryside or beach at weekends

babybythesea · 11/02/2026 16:02

I live in the country side and visit the city.
I grew up in a city and much prefer where I live now.
I like visiting museums etc but I dislike all the hustle and bustle. I like space and beaches and woodland.
Countryside suits me far better.

City over country if I had to choose. I actually live in a decent sized town on the edge of a national park with a direct 30 minute train to the city, this is the ideal for me.

TheWytch · 11/02/2026 16:03

Live in the country.

I visit the nearest city as rarely as possible. Maybe once or twice a year.

SpaceRaccoon · 11/02/2026 16:04

I live in the countryside and love it, and feel grateful every day for the peace and beauty of it.

SettingSunStillness · 11/02/2026 16:05

Live in the country. Visit city
Ive done both and this suits me mentally

bridgetreilly · 11/02/2026 16:06

Live in the countryside, avoid visiting the city.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 11/02/2026 16:07

Live in the city and visit the country.

Tootles1 · 11/02/2026 16:08

Live in the countryside which I do now. I’m 9 miles from the nearest city and I love it. I only go into the city as and when I need to.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 11/02/2026 16:08

For me, live in the countryside and visit the city.

MiddleAgedDread · 11/02/2026 16:09

Live in the city, visit the countryside.

Grew up in the countryside, left as soon as I could.

Needmorelego · 11/02/2026 16:10

I'd prefer to live in a medium size town (population of a 60,000) with decent public transport and visit both the countryside and the city.

Crochetandtea · 11/02/2026 16:10

Countryside and visit the city. Give me lack of neighbours, green fields and my animals any day of the week. Only thing I’d really really love is a lake. If I had a lake it would be perfect.

MrsAvocet · 11/02/2026 16:15

I do live in the countryside and I enjoy visiting cities. Everywhere has it's positives and negatives and you can't have eveything everywhere. If I visit a city I really appreciate things like museums, concert halls, the number and range of different places to eat out etc but those are things I want to do relatively infrequently and I enjoy going for a day trip or weekend. My main interests and preferred lifestyle are much better suited to the countryside. I don't think either choice is actually better, they just suit different people. I'm pleased that not many people want to live where I do as the lack of other people is one of the fundamental attractions for me.

Same
our neatest city is half an hour away, I go in for work 3 days a week, always so happy to leave

I live in Wales, in a small town just outside Cardiff. Countryside is not far away but I wouldn't like to live out in the sticks! Small town is perfect for me, I like being able to walk to the shops, walk kids to school, doctors and dentist within walking distance too. And we have a small seafront which is lovely when you want a good walk to blow away the cobwebs, and fish & chips!

KimberleyClark · 11/02/2026 16:25

Live in the city. I love visiting the countryside but living there would drive me nuts.

partytimed · 11/02/2026 16:25

Live in the countryside and visit the city. I need to live surrounded by nature, all the concrete and noise of city life stresses me out.

Observed · 11/02/2026 16:27

Live in a small coastal town with stunning countryside nearby, as I do now. Best of most worlds.

EmmaStone · 11/02/2026 16:27

Live in the country. I work in the city (12 miles away), and the DC used to go to school there, so we spend a lot of time there already, but the countryside is our refuge. DH and I both grew up with similar set ups.

Eviangeica · 11/02/2026 17:09

We live in the arse end of nowhere and love it, we don’t like the city unless in small does like a weekend away.

BellyPork · 11/02/2026 17:32

I would choose to live in the city because I love eating. All types of food from all over the world. In the right city, it's feeding time all day long.
