Am I being really stupid with this parcel I’ve sold on Vinted

I have a digital label and it says I can send it through one of those inpost lockers so I just scan the qr code on the screen and it opens a door for me to put it in, but how is the courier supposed to know where it’s going if there’s nothing on it?! 🫤

Just trust it, it works (most of the time)

GoldGold · 11/02/2026 11:46

It’s linked to the locker you put it in.
When the courier comes to collect they print out the labels assigned to each locker I think, or something like that. But it is reliable, just be sure to use the locker that is opened. If you need a larger size, you can request that on screen.

when the couriers open the doors their machine will print a label for it, it does work!

Homemadearmy · 11/02/2026 11:46

The courier prints the labels and sticks them on, I’ve sold a few things and used this option. But they were low value.

I stood amazed the first time I sent a parcel through InPost . I was so worried til it got to the person coz I thought I had done something wrong ha . They put a label on the item when they collect the parcel from its compartment . You do just do as you’ve said . No worries .

Tiredmumno1 · 11/02/2026 11:46

I had a look and found this if it helps -

  • Initial Action: When you scan your QR code at the locker and place your parcel inside, the system registers the parcel's information to that specific compartment.
  • Courier Collection: The courier collects the parcels and attaches a temporary, unique barcode tag to each one.
  • Depot Processing: At the InPost depot, this temporary label is scanned, and a final, permanent shipping label is generated and attached to the package, ensuring it reaches its destination.
  • Alternative: For security, users can write the tracking code or recipient details on the parcel, though it is not strictly required.

Ever wondered how our print-free service works?

it's magic!!
feels wrong but it works.

YouOKHun · 11/02/2026 11:47

You can choose to print a label and stick it on the parcel and scan that or scan from your phone without a parcel. With Inpost I always print the label and stick it on the parcel so that when Inpost lose the parcel it has an outside chance of being identified, this has proved wise on a couple of occasions!

YouOKHun · 11/02/2026 11:51

*without a label (that’s what I meant to say). My problems mainly stemmed from the Yodel buyout of Inpost last year. I may not need to be so paranoid now!

RobinTheCavewoman · 11/02/2026 11:52

It's how it works. No idea how, but the parcels end up with the right person somehow!

letshavetea · 11/02/2026 12:00

I’ve used it - it does (amazingly) work!

Blogswife · 11/02/2026 12:04

I use Inpost digital all of the time . I’ve never had a problem with anything going astray ( other than when I put the wrong item in the locker & even then Inpost sorted it out for me ! )
When the digital label is issued it ties up with the locker than opens for you - the delivery guy applies an address label when they pick it up . It works honestly !

Brooklyn70 · 11/02/2026 12:12

we’ve all been there… it’s like being on a plane, i can’t stop to think how it all works, just trust it does 😂

MsGreying · 11/02/2026 12:37

We had a DPD collection for books going to sell your books.
I put tracking numbers on box but DPD man added a tiny sticker code and scanned it and took it away.
A bar code is all they need.

birlywoos · 11/02/2026 12:51

Oh this is reassuring, I’ve been really worrying all week 😆 I was thinking I must be missing something !!

You could always write the persons name on the parcel just in case

This is true! Where do I find that information do you know ? 😁 I’m new to this ! I have wrote my return address just incase even though I’m sick of looking at these bloody boots that I’ve told myself I’ll wear for the past 5 years I would rather have them back than get lost
