AIBU to be annoyed at Vinted?

Since their 'rationalisation' of the sizing, there's now twice as many items to view because they don't separate say 12s and 14s. And shouldn't sellers be obliged to put inside leg or dress length? I'm sick of having to message the sellers. Even if I'm only charging £3 for something, I always put inside leg/length.

Any other issues for frequent users?

I couldn’t be arsed measuring dress lengths, especially for low amounts of money. I’d probably just charity shop instead.

But the sizing is really annoying

usedtobeaylis · 09/02/2026 19:54

I'm a 14-16 and need to search both 12-14 and 16-18. And still get 10s and 22s. How hard can it be to have a normal search function?

I agree. When listing items I always show photos with the exact measurements.on. I wish other sellers would do the same. I bought a skirt advertised as a size 8 in a brand I wear so I was expecting it to have a 28in waist. When it arrived, I kid you not, I thought I'd received a child's skirt. I measured the waist and it was 22 inches. It had obviously been altered but the seller didn't bother to mention that!

NancyBellaDonna · 09/02/2026 20:10

Not only do we have to contend with the nonsensical sizing but Vinted has now introduced buyers and sellers from USA. I can see that will be fraught with problems. The UK seller has to pay the USA tariff/duty.

Just before Christmas I said I was done with Vinted but inn January I thought I'd give it one last chance. It's not going well so far.

Rainbowdottie · 09/02/2026 20:19

I do struggle with the sizes. I’m generally a 16 but trawl through loads of 18s.

the measurements are a hard one. I’ve always put measurements on my stuff even the low priced stuff. Tbh more because I want to be able to come back with “but all the measurements were there” if I ever get a complaint about “it doesn’t fit me”!

I must admit I’ve been lapse on that on my last few items. I just didn’t have the time and selling for pennies and wanted the items up asap. I’m more frustrated by rubbish blurred pictures and finding an item I’ve been searching for, having the joy of finding it, to see it was listed 14 months ago 😞😞😞 and an inactive account or user who don’t get back to you about it because they listed it a long time ago.

I do get frustrated by the lack of smoke, pet free home etc..I wanted to buy a coat last night that was clearly popular but I spent so much time asking her basic questions that I missed out on the coat altogether. If the info had been there , I just would have bought it. I know some will say I should have just bought it anyway but I don’t fancy the cost of the dry cleaning if it’s Smokey etc
I bought a lovely triangle scarf recently without asking all the magic questions of smoke/pet free etc and I was stung with both! A scarf I couldn’t wash because it was new with tags, I wasn’t sure I liked it enough to keep and I might have sold it on but stink of smoke and was covered in cat hair!! Think the cat had used it as her bed lol

That’s seriously annoying! Unfortunately, (fortunately , really!) I’ve had to replace my entire wardrobe, including shoes, due to going from a size 26 to a 12/14, so I’ve become a bit of an addict.

I don’t get that. I frequently see the wrong size shoes, despite having done the personalisation thing.

Also, I swear you used to be able to specify dress size but have a different size for eg jumpers. I like a tight fitting tshirt/jumper but a size 12 jacket won’t button up. Re-did the personalisation thing yesterday and you can’t do that anymore.

That’s ridiculous! Like the old ‘bought a fabulous table, turned out to be for a doll’s house’ 🤬 Drives me nuts, the lack of detail. I don’t want to show my lumpy lymphodema legs, bought 2 things recently and both have slits, not shown in pics or mentioned. Ok, they were only about £7, but add on postage and I’ve spent £20. I have a pile to sell on/charity shop currently.

Just before Christmas I said I was done with Vinted but inn January I thought I'd give it one last chance. It's not going well so far.

That gave me pause at the weekend. I reported the seller, didn’t know it was allowed and thought the seller made a mistake, so messaged her to say
postage for the item she’d offered to sell me for under a quid (is that new, too? Thought the minimum was £1?) would be bonkers.

yes i got caught out with postage, choose my normal locker paid then realised i had been charged about 10 quid postage.......luckily the seller was nice about me asking for a cancellation

Shizzlestix · 09/02/2026 20:41

@Rainbowdottie i was stung once with smokey stuff, luckily I was able to just throw it in the wash (twice).

I spend ages removing dog hair. I mean, I have the dog on my knee on a constant. I went down sizes rapidly following wls, so had to keep updating stuff. I looked at some jeans just now and thought I’ll do as much as I can but they can’t be sold 🤬

Was that for a parcel going to the States? I am wondering if I can refuse to sell to overseas Vinted buyers. What if they reject it? Who's going to pay returns? Is the courier reliable?

Shizzlestix · 10/02/2026 18:31

I give in. I just asked a seller how long a dress is and the response was 'To the ankle'. But whose ankle and how tall are they?! Another great one the other day 'It comes to my ankle with 2 inch heels on' because that'll affect where the dress comes to! 😂👠

I'm a 10-12 so also need to search two categories. It's annoying and I buy way less on it now. You wouldn't group size 5 and 6 shoes together, so why do it with clothes? Fecking annoying!

I just asked someone the inside leg measurements of a pair of jeans. She said she couldn't measure them as she doesn't have a tape measure. However, she said she's a size 8 and they fit perfectly ffsake😔..

Yeah, I tapped on something that was 16 and it was actually 22! On the label ! But description said 16

Katemax82 · 10/02/2026 18:41

I get pissed off when sellers are listing clothes that are actually labelled medium or large or whatever but they put them in the wrong size category. If it's L on the label put it in the fucking L section!!

Katemax82 · 10/02/2026 18:47

Im actually annoyed cos someone is selling a brand new dress I've already got but mine has a bleach stain. It's in the M section but with no label picture. Ad they ignored my message. If I buy it it's bound to be a 12 not a 14

Had the same this week. 'No tape measure but when I hold it against myself, it's at my ankle, I'm 5ft 4.' But you haven't taken into account the bum hiking it up! Or the boobs! All of my long trousers were suddenly way too long when I lost weight because my bum was no longer holding them up.

Same here. We used to just get the size we are e.g. size 12s. It's a PITA now.

There's a lot of Shein stuff on there. The M on the label is usually accompanied by US6, which surely means 2 sizes smaller than the UK size, according to every size chart I've ever seen. So it should be a S, 8-10, not a M, 12-14. A seller sent an offer, which I declined, explaining this. She got the arse!

the seller was in the US, i am in the UK - nothing initially looked any different but when i realised the mistake i looked at the listing and the address was something like sheffield OH so i will be paying more attention
