To ask would you be bothered to sell things for £1 or £2 on Vinted

Personally I live within walking distance of lockers so I am

No I tend to only bother for £10 or over items anything less isn't worth my time.

Gettoachiro · 09/02/2026 04:05

Most definitely. It all adds up.

xyzandabc · 09/02/2026 04:10

I do yes as I pass lockers on my way to work. It all adds up and often people buy a bundle of the same size things.

Bjorkdidit · 09/02/2026 04:10

Depends how much time you have, how much you need the money and how cheaply you can do it.

Eg if you can walk to the lockers (make sure they're the right lockers for the postage service you offer), have packaging you can reuse, have the time and could use the money, then you might as well.

If one or more of those don't apply, it will start to feel like more hassle than it's worth, especially the time/money aspects.

I've sold a bit on Vinted, can walk to most of the lockers etc, and indeed it's a good excuse to get out of the house and go for a walk but am also time poor and disorganised so only really sold things I knew I could get at least £5/10 for.

When I had a clear out I put aside a pile of items that collectively got me about £150, so felt like it was worth it. But it wouldn't have if those same 20 items only got me £20/30 for the same amount of packing up and running around so they went in the clothing bin at the recycling centre - I'm a big fan of those because they're sorted by people who know what is worth selling to rewear with the rest being shredded for insulation etc so everything is appropriately dealt with.

SilentRefluxAdvicePlease · 09/02/2026 04:15

I tend to only sell used items (in good or very good condition), so often a price range of £1-2 is reasonable and matches the market value for Vinted. Especially for children’s clothes. My feeling is, these items would otherwise be given away for free, so it’s better for me to make something in return for them than nothing, if the only reason I am giving them away is because they are outgrown. We don’t have heaps of storage space and so need to declutter fairly regularly; in this sense Vinted does me a favour! I ensure there is no other cost to me by reusing packaging and I try not to make special trips out to send parcels. I am lucky to live in an area with lots of choice of locations for InPost/Evri/Royal Mail, and so will take things with me to post on my commute to work, or on the school run etc.

Silverbirchleaf · 09/02/2026 04:43

No, I had a minimum leveL of £5. Didn’t think it was worth my time and effort for anything less.

cariadlet · 09/02/2026 05:07

I'm in the habit of giving things to charity shops because that's what I'm used to. Vinted wasn't around when I first started having clear outs.
Selling on Vinted always looks a pain. I couldn't be bothered with it, especially for a couple of quid.

Lostearrings · 09/02/2026 05:18

I now have a strategy of anything which I’d get less than £2.50 goes straight into the charity shop bag; anything between £2:50 and £5.00 is put on Vinted for 10 days or so and, if not sold in that period, I remove the listing and put the item in the charity shop bag; anything between £5 & £10 I leave a bit longer; anything above £10 I leave for a few weeks & then take down, re-list a couple of months later and then take to a charity shop
I have limited the carriers available for buyers to select to those I drive past every day and also state on the listings that items are priced to sell and that I will ignore any offers.

Disasterclass · 09/02/2026 05:36

I’m selling some kids clothes for low prices at the moment. As well as having lots of reusable packaging and shops that take the parcels very close, all the charity shops near me don’t take kids clothes.

Caspianberg · 09/02/2026 05:40

No
i don’t really sell anything below £10.
If it’s kids clothes I would just bundle up to make it a higher value. Ie decent brand kids clothes I would sell multiple items of same brand and size together.

Otherwise charity

Petrine · 09/02/2026 05:40

I wouldn’t.

greencheetah · 09/02/2026 05:58

I’m a two minute walk from my local shop so yes, I do.

hattie43 · 09/02/2026 06:41

No I absolutely wouldn’t . Huge amount of time with no return .

WoahThreeAces · 09/02/2026 06:42

Yup, I've sold a fair number of things for £1!

PurpleFlower1983 · 09/02/2026 06:45

No, not worth my time. I put things of that value into bundles or donate them. I do this a lot with children’s clothes.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 09/02/2026 06:46

I do sometimes ! I only leave up around a week and if it doesn’t go then il charity it

it does add up - last few weeks I made 50£ with a mix of Items listed between 1£ & 10£

I live opposite the shop that I use to post the stuff so I literally just run over the road and hand it in
🤷‍♀️

bakebeans · 09/02/2026 06:48

Yes I would if I could sell the stuff. I’ve put books on for £1 and no offers. I’ve just dumped a bag of stuff at the charity shop because I couldn’t sell it.

TheBlueKoala · 09/02/2026 06:50

No, not worth my time. For dc clothes I do bundles for 10£ that sells quickly. The least I sold something for was 3£.

WhitegreeNcandle · 09/02/2026 06:50

Yes. But not for the money, for the sustainability aspect. Eg I’d bought DD some tights which she then decided she hated and reverted to socks so I had 6 pairs of virtually unworn M&S school tights. The likelihood of someone needing that in our local charity shop is tiny but they were snapped up on Vinted. Likewise I managed to buy her 10 pairs of knee high socks for £1. Not as pleased about the bargain as I was about the fact they’d been given another lease of life. I’d happily give things like that away if I could.

FancyCatSlave · 09/02/2026 06:51

No. I live rurally so it’s a 20 min drive to any lockers and even with an electric car it’s not cost effective.

I buy a lot on vinted but give to charity shops in lieu of cash donations. I can’t be bothered to sell even the good stuff.

MagneticSquirrel · 09/02/2026 06:52

Yes, I’d rather get £1 for something than give it away for free and I reuse packing and have most of the lockers/parcel shops open 24/7 or 6-11pm near me so dispatching is no hassle.

Really annoying when even the £1 stuff won’t sell though!

Seymour5 · 09/02/2026 06:57

I’ve bought on Vinted, but I’ve not sold. I couldn’t be bothered packing etc., I’m not in need of a few ££, and I volunteer in a charity shop so I’d rather donate. Perhaps if it had been around when I was young I’d have felt differently. Teen GD sells regularly for very little.

YouBelongWithMe · 09/02/2026 07:02

I do. Almost everything I make on Vinted get overpaid to my mortgage immediately so every £1 helps! I also live within walking distance and it's a nice amble down with the dog, so I don't see it as not worth it.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 09/02/2026 07:06

I sell my daughter's old things for £1-2 if they're decent, and save the money for something new for her. New to me, that is.

Bookloveruk · 09/02/2026 07:09

I would have said yes as I had several local postage options. Mainly books though at this price. However all apart from evri have stopped the service as impacting their core business (petrol station and local shop) so I’ll be stopping as not going 12 miles to post. Will donate to local places
