What do you want to do / eat / where do you want to go!

Is anyone else so fed up of having a husband that NEVER has any ideas. Never has any ‘get up and go’ or drive.

Mother’s Day comes around and he shrugs and says… You’re not my mother but then acts like I am a hybrid of his mother and personal entertainer! If I don’t cook it will be chicken nuggets intended for the grandkids or just sit and stare at the TV.

Any ideas before mild resentment turns to actual unsurpassable resentment!

And I have tried being kind and being blunt! I have spelled it out! Then he’ll book train tickets to a big city for the weekend and then say… I’ve booked this… where do you want to go and where would you like to eat! Argh!!!

You married him… 🤷🏼‍♀️

I agree with PP. Did you think he would change?

Whenwilltherainstopitsboringnow · 07/02/2026 18:19

I did marry him. And he was nothing like this! It’s been a slow morph into a dull middle aged man!

Well yes I could see that would be infuriating

(though I'm not sure why you expect him to treat you on mother's day given that you mention grandkids which suggests your children are adult?)

Your only hope is to give up and organise things yourself - presumably he'd come if you did?

Whenwilltherainstopitsboringnow · 07/02/2026 20:17

Because I’m still a mother to his children. Perhaps I shouldn’t make an effort on Father’s Day.

if I organise anything after mid day he would come. But he would be happy for me to do anything alone if it meant he could stay in bed later or not make an effort.

I agree totally!!!!! My DH is the same. We agree we're going to go out
Me - 'Where would you like to go?'
DH - 'I don't know where would YOU like to go?'
Me - 'You choose, I chose last time'
DH - 'I don't know, what do you think?'
Everything from which fecking takeaway we're having, to where we're going on holiday, he can't even decide what to have for tea Hmm
Drives me nuts. He thinks he's making life easier because he's being 'laidback'. Is he feck, he's being lazy! Does my swede in!!!

Any suggestions? I think this (amongst other things) will end our marriage. It’s so unattractive, like having a toddler not a husband

God no. I have no suggestions. My man has been like this in forever and I know, I know, I picked him! He has got some lovely qualities too and that's what saves me from knee capping him I think. Just here to empathise!

Use technology. Put your options into a randomised selector on your phone. It will choose for you.
