Vitamin advice

Been to doctors recently and had some blood tests due to my aching legs.

Doctor said vitamin deficient and blood test confirms.

Husband thinks I maybe peri menopausal . Im 39 and don't think so but husband is adamant.

If it is can anyone recommend a good multivitamin for me to take. Don't want to take lots of small ones just one big one of possible.

Thanks

Which vitamins are you deficient in?
I would recommend you ask your pharmacist/GP which tablets you should be taking.

You don’t need a multivitamin. You need to replace what you are deficient in. A multivitamin you mostly just piss out and the dose won’t be high enough to counteract a deficiency. For things like vitamin D, you need a proper loading dose, not like the 4000IU tablets you can buy in Boots, for example.

What did your blood test say, and how deficient are you? I suspect your Vitamin D is low but how low?

Have been prescribed Colecalciferol 20,000unit capsules take 2 a week for 6 weeks. So vitamin d low. Would like a vitamin supplement I can use for preventing this happening again

Why can’t you just continue the prescription?

Your husband has adamant that you're peri menopausal? Wtf??

LaurieFairyCake · 04/02/2026 22:06

No, you need to get retested continually and maintain your levels. Plus be aware it may not work
and the nhs boundaries are shit, you will feel better at a certain level and you need to find that and maintain it.

Take the prescription that will take you to nearly april then spend more time outside as the weather will be getting better. Taking extra vitamins you are not deficient in will offer no benefit

OP, please take vitamin K as well to aid calcium absorption (to avoid calcification of arteries)
