Six Palestine Action activists cleared of aggravated burglary over break-in at UK subsidiary of Israeli defence firm.
So you can now break into a factory using a van, and attack people with sledgehammers?
I just can't believe it.

A screenshot of the police van seen on the Elbit Systems UK site. The van is a large white vehicle with small windows and a chevron pattern across the back. A figure wearing black with a white helmet can be seen in the lower right corner of the image h...

Wait, the sledgehammer terrorist supporter who broke a woman’s back - that was this trial??

It didn’t mention that in the article I read earlier. Interesting

Prove intent?! Their plan was organised, not spur of the moment. Strewth.

And contrary to what a PP said the prosecution don’t need to have evidence of an “agreement beforehand” to prove intent.

Let’s face it - this is HUGE jury bias, unbelievably obvious. anyone who blames the prosecution needs their head examining.

TheGrimSmile · 04/02/2026 19:36

Unless you were at the trial and heard all the evidence, you have no idea why they were acquitted.

When you can see them breaking into.
They show a person hitting a policewoman who is on the floor.

Please tell me this isn't the end of any charges. I'm appalled.

VoiceFromThePit · 04/02/2026 19:39

YABU purely because this is nothing new, there is no such thing as an impartial jury, every juror brings their own baggage to court; they are humans. This swings both ways.

But getting rid of juries is not the answer as some judges can be just as bad, some have reputations as “hanging judges” as they always give harsh sentences for example.

This is why the CPS needs to up it’s game and not be complacent by leaving questions and things open to interpretation. If in any doubt a lesser charge or no charge at all should be brought that can effectively be more probably “proven”. That is likely what will happen in this case.

Unbelievable. He did it but it wasn't his fault.

Clearly she made him do it poor lamb, can see the police who sprayed him getting a harsher sentence.

MaturingCheeseball · 04/02/2026 19:43

Those people crowing outside - do they approve of that Corner man sledgehammering the wpc?

standtherebicycle · 04/02/2026 19:46

MaturingCheeseball · 04/02/2026 19:21

This case is very important and should not be swept under the carpet.

A man raised a sledgehammer and brought it down on a wpc. For a jury to find someone not guilty of a crime here is actually terrifying.

Because it means that one day you might be attacked by someone - or a loved-one killed - but because the jury sympathise with their cause of personal characteristics they are going to get off. OJ anyone? Does anyone believe that the victims were served proper justice there?

Was it the same court that found the man who did the slitting throat thing not guilty?

The problem is that the jury was not asked to find them guilty of ‘a crime’ but of the specific crime of aggravated burglary - as someone else said there will need to have been intent to commit that specific offence. The partial verdicts on other charges suggest a retrail
may be likely, in which case the other charges cover the damage/crime that needs addressing more cleanly.

Probably

So many seem to really hate women.

SirBasil · 04/02/2026 19:52

The police all need to take 2 steps back when asked to do anything related to those utter twats.

GeneralPeter · 04/02/2026 19:54

I’m not sure it was (successful) jury nullification, or we would have seen not guilty across all charges.

Though there was an attempt to persuade jurors to nullify, via posters reminding them of that option.

I suspect a couple of jurors wanted to nullify (ie would have found not guilty regardless). They didn’t have the numbers, so ended up with no verdict.

So, retrial.

GeneralPeter · 04/02/2026 19:56

And Samuel Corner wasn’t acquitted of GBH, so he can be tried again. Some of the reporting and comment has been quite misleading on this.

To think that the Justice system is completely f***ed?
Livelovebehappy · 04/02/2026 20:18

Would be interesting to see who was representng the jury. I know that wont happen, but i think it would explain a lot.....

PencilsInSpace · 04/02/2026 20:22

It's helpful to read through the 'route to verdict' document the jury were given:

https://realmedia.press/filton-case-route-to-verdict-1/

I don't like the verdict and especially don't like the lack of verdict on so many of the charges but reading through this, I can see how they ended up where they did.

Erm, I think the evidence we've seen is.pretty damning. Can't imagine how someone watching the footage of someone beating someone with a hammer is swayed to believe it didnt happen.

It was, but in the GBH charge (among others) they failed to reach a verdict, so it may go for a retrial.

Nobody is claiming it didn't happen. His defence was that he believed he was acting in defence of his fellow protesters. The jury did not reach a verdict. Perhaps they could not agree on whether he genuinely believed this or perhaps they could not agree on whether this was GBH, GBH with intent, or ABH. The jury would have had to agree on one of these for a guilty verdict.

My understanding is that he has not been released so a retrial is likely.

Even if one was at the trial, none of us will be privy to the discussions in the Jury Room.

This is useful but I still don’t get how you can sledgehammer someone and not get a guilty outcome even with this route to verdict.

He did it. Was on camera seen hitting policewoman with sledgehammer. Everyone knows he did it, and she ended up with broken spine.

But, it was really not his fault, he was defending others. The cause is important so its ok to take direct action. He's autistic. He was sprayed. Etc. Lots of excuses, minimisation.

Me too.

The mask is slipping from the “Pro Palestine” movement. I mean TBH it’s been slipping since October 8th when many justified the rape of innocent young Jewish women and murder of Jewish babies, but I think even the most hardened leftie should now be struggling to justify the actions of these absolute scumbags, and anyone associated with them

Ironic that these violent POS say Israel doesn’t have the right to defend itself…but they have the right to defend Palestinians (even though they’re in the South of England, and not even “stopping anything in its tracks”) through the medium of a sledgehammer to a woman’s spine. A woman just doing her job.
