Threatened Miscarriage

I’m currently 5weeks 6days pregnant and previously had an ectopic last year. I’ve had spotting yesterday and abit more blood like today with period like cramping in my lower belly so I’ve come to the EPU. They’ve examined and said my cervix is closed and there is no active bleeding. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Would be nice to hear everyone’s outcomes x

I had this with both my kids and they were both born full-term and healthy.

I had this with both of my sons, both were born full term and one is 29 next week and the other is 25.

I had this at 6w5d with DD1, who is now 18. Even scarier for me was a huge clot and bleeding at 16w with DD2, which turned out to be something to do with the placenta being low (I think). She's now 16. Both pregnancies continued smoothly after the bleeds, and the placenta had "migrated" in time with DD2 and both were straightforward births in a Midwife Unit.

I remember how terrifying it was driving the 45 minutes to the hospital after the 16w bleed. I had woken for the loo in the night when I spotted it, and we had to wait until the EPC opened at 7am.

Keeping everything crossed for you @Leahroseax, bleeding in early pregnancy is very common.

Thankyou so much that’s good to know! I’ve read that I can have progesterone due to my previous ectopic, fingers crossed my scan is ok and I can get going with the progesterone 😊

I had this with both of my pregnancies. During my first I was put into a progesterone trial. I’ve no idea whether I had the progesterone or a placebo. Both pregnancies resulted in live and healthy babies.
No one can say what will happen with your pregnancy but I found great comfort from mumsnet when I was going through the same and so I am sending you lots of luck and best wishes.

Absolutely and I’m not giving myself any false hope, just nice to know I’m not alone in such a weird uncertain time 💕

You are definitely not alone. It is very common to bleed in pregnancy but that doesn’t make it any less scary. I found I had both a low lying placenta and recurrence of an ectropian during pregnancy which contributed to my bleeds. Will you have an early scan? I found the statistics of seeing heart beat at 6 weeks quite comforting when I was in that position.

100% they’ve done my bloods and will be scanning me once they’re back tonight x

I had bleeding with all 5 pregnancies-I had two miscarriages and three babies, but the bleeding was very similar with all of them.

With my last pregnancy. I had a scan at what should have been 6 weeks 3 days and they said there was no heartbeat and to come back in 2 weeks. I bled (and cried!) for 2 weeks and when I went back, there was a 8 week 3 day baby!

Early pregnancy can be bloody stressful-hang in there and good luck with the bloods/scan x

I had a threatened miscarriage at 11 weeks. Lots of blood but cervix closed and all was well. Good luck! I hope it all turns out well for you too.
